PS Vita's Sumioni gets a trailer full of ink

PS Vita's Sumioni gets a trailer full of ink screenshot

Acquire has busted out a new trailer for its ink-filled platformer Sumioni to accompany the other announcement made regarding the game's (now official) February 9 release date in Japan. The latest trailer has, like, ink going all over the place and shows how players can utilise the PS Vita's touch controls to create platforms to jump on or even call upon allies to help kick some ass.

You know, most of us are bound to think of Okami when we watch this trailer, and that's not a bad thing. I mean, I haven't really seen anyone call out "Okami clone!" just yet, but it's going to happen. If anything, we need more games in this style so any Okami die-hard out there should, if anything, welcome games like Sumioni.

video details and more

Icelandic developer CCP is looking to win back some of EVE Online's user base with the just-released expansion, Crucible. Spaceships and dubstep, y'all.

This 15th free expansion to the mystifying MMO brings upwards of 50 features ranging from attractive new nebula imagery to more Tier 3 Battlecruisers to time dilation for those truly colossal engagements. You've got to appreciate the amount of explanation offered for many of these design decisions. My goodness, these folks can write!

Right now, active players are being given the Genolution CA-1 implant and an extended 60-day trial code for friends or family curious about the EVE mythos. In an industry increasingly turning to free-to-play, CCP persists.

The DTOID Show: Infinity Blade 2 & Dragon Age
Multiplayer

video details and more

Hey guys! I'm BACK! And I still sound sort of funny.

On today's very special Destructoid Show, we address the rumors foating around about EA's new stuff, such as Frostbite 2 powered Dragon Age multiplayer, with playable dragons, as well as the possibility of a Dead Space 3 multiplayer. In a move that is generally baffling on all sides, video game publisher Capcom, Wu-Tang Clan alumnus Method Man, and movie theatre candy Sour Patch Kids have teamed up to produce a downloadable game called World Gone Sour. Speaking of patches, Skyrim's latest patch just got a patch because dragons were flying backwards and stuff. If that wasn't weird enough, Rhythm Heaven Fever is coming stateside in February. I demand Jonathan Holmes DLC.

The big thing here is that Tara got to check out Infinity Blade 2 while I was busy hacking up green stuff. She'll be uploading her interview video separately, but watch today's episode for her impressions!

Lineage II goes Truly Free today with new content

Lineage II goes Truly Free today with new content screenshot

Let it forever be known that November of 2011 was a month book-ended by Lineage II free-to-play posts. On November 1st it was announced that Lineage II was going "Truly Free" and now that day is finally here. Yes, you can finally download the Lineage II client and play it, without any account restrictions, for free. For more information on how this works and where to download, head to the official website.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this update is the "Path to Awakening" website. If you log in with your character, this will act as your "companion" to leveling up. If you choose to do so you will be occasionally rewarded with items as you meet certain level requirements. I think this will be a tremendous help for the influx of new players that Lineage II is about to see.

Will this website, along with the new content and lack of traditional free-to-play restrictions be enough for you to download the client? Or will you stick to other free-to-play MMOs like City of Heroes or DC Universe Online?

Room for more Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies on
iOS

Room for more? Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies on iOS screenshot

Can it get more mainstream than zombies, Call of Duty, and iOS? We're about to find out with Activision and Ideaworks Game Studio's Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies.

Launching tomorrow for third-gen-and-newer devices at $6.99, this game will include the familiar "Kino der Toten" map from Black Ops, in addition to 50 levels' worth of Dead-Ops Arcade. If you can find three other warm bodies, multiplayer is supported.

NVIDIA puts out holiday GeForce GTX 560 Ti with
448 cores

NVIDIA puts out holiday GeForce GTX 560 Ti with 448 cores screenshot

For those of you looking to pick up a new graphics card this holiday season, NVIDIA is releasing a limited-edition high-end card: the GeForce GTX 560 Ti with 448 CUDA cores. The MSRP is $289, though that will vary based on card manufacturer.

The GPU has 448 shader cores and 1.2GB/320-bit GDDR5 VRAM with 3.8 Gbps bandwidth. You can use up to three cards in SLI and each one draws 210 W and needs two 6-pin connectors.

Performance figures seem solid, placing it rather close to the GTX 570. At its price level the GPU's main competition is the AMD Radeon 6950, to which it compares favorably, showing 5-10% increase in FPS and benchmarking scores. So if you're looking for a high-end card, but don't want to take the plunge on a $500+ card, this may be a viable option.
