video details and more
Hey guys! I'm home sick with a cold, so I couldn't host The Destructoid Show today. Luckily, we had Anthony Carboni of New Challenger fame take over for me... And... Tell everyone that I have herpes.
Anyway, news was pretty light today. The only big release of the week is Mario Kart 7, but the review of that is embargoed until tomorrow. Exciting. The director of LA Noire is gearing up for his next game, titled Whore Of The Orient. Luckily, nobody gets offended by video games anymore, so there's no way that'll ruffle any politically-correct feathers. In other news, the US prices for Playstation Vita memory cards have been announced, and The first big patch for Skyrim is coming PS3, and will reach 360 and PC soon after.
We're also announcing the winners of the first half of our Saints Row The Third Astro Gaming contest. We've still got another pair of headphones to give away, so watch the show and find out how.

According to my Doctor Who calendar, the time of year where children are encouraged to support obesity by leaving cookies out for a fat burglar who magically fits in chimneys is almost upon us. I'm preparing by trying to make excuses so I don't have to spend too much time with my family and loved ones and I'll probably be buying cheap tat from someone's car boot. I'm merry, oh so bloody merry. The festive folks over at Nintendo are trying to get into the Christmas spirit with about the same amount of enthusiasm.
On December 4 Nintendo will be offering new bundles for you to put in stockings, wrap up in hideous wrapping paper and give to someone you feel a small amount of affection for. Or you can just get them for yourself, if that's your thing. The new bundles include a pink 3DS, because girls celebrate Christmas too, and either Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog and New Friends or Nintendogs + Cats: Toy Poodle and New Friends. The MSRP for the new bundles is $169.99 which is the same price as the standard 3DS, which isn't bad at all. And remember, kids, when you get sick of looking after your virtual pet after Christmas, don't flush it down the toilet.

Activision has let loose a new trailer showing off the features of Call of Duty ELITE, and it looks!... alright-ish! The video itself is very action packed but the sort of features that ELITE provides are kind of hard to make exciting. Should you watch the trailer you'll see ELITE's capacity for stat tracking, clans, and mobile Call of Duty access somewhere in between all the guns and explosions.
I am personally on the fence with shelling out 50 dollars. I played a lot of Black Ops, and while I was actually very fond of that game I found the maps less and less inspired as they continued to release packs. I don't know how I feel about spending all my money upfront in case something like that happens again. I never knew that opinions were so strong about Call of Duty, but that hasn't stopped ELITE from being too popular for its own good. Do any readers already have this service? What do you think about it?

Poor Kinect. Microsoft's motion-control device has encountered a less-than-stellar first year in Japan, which really shouldn't come as much of a surprise given the tech's room-size restrictions. Recapping Famitsu's coverage, andriasang reports (via Sokuho) that Kinect has sold 114,000 units through November 13.
Sad as that figure is, you shouldn't feel bad. (Not simply because it's an inanimate object.) Last we heard, more than 10 million Kinects had been sold worldwide, and I'll be shocked if this isn't another terrific holiday season for the sensor.
The Kinect software sales, on the other hand, are depressing. Not including the pack-in Kinect Adventures, Forza Motorsport 4 was the top game at 24,900 copies sold. Let's slowly back away.

Oh, Victini. You helped my team easily gain experience during the early game of Pokemon White. I'll never forget that annoying screech of yours. Those who missed the opportunity to grab Victini at launch are getting another shot starting this weekend.
To coincide with the U.S. debut of Pokemon the Movie: White - Victini and Zekrom (How is this a film name?), Nintendo is hosting a distribution event via Wi-Fi. Pokemon Black and White owners can download a level 50 Victini -- with the moves V-create, Fusion Flare, Fusion Bolt, and Searing Shot -- from Dec. 3 through Dec. 31.

It warms my frozen heart to see a group of good-intentioned, like-minded individuals come together to offer consumers something of value at a reasonable price. Such is the case with this past weekend's Indie Game Music Bundle. The fun ends tonight, but a few extras have been tossed in since we last covered it.
Sure, you can pay what you want -- chipping in $10, however, gets you access to FLACs as well as four new albums: Circle by C418, Cardboard Box Assembler by anosou, Songs for the Cure '11: Remedy, and Undead on Arrival: BiteJacker OST by HyperDuck SoundWorks. Prior orders of $10+ have access to this stuff now, too.
So much music!
