Nintendo is pretty good about being a "family friendly" company, and it likes to promote a clean, vulgarity-free environment. As such, the Nintendo 3DS warns against using rude names or words in online portions of the game and has a filter to make sure its autocomplete doesn't suggest naughty words.
Naturally, I discovered a hole in Nintendo's defenses within minutes.
While trying to type "EKANS" as my status message, I stumbled upon "Ejaculation" -- a word that has apparently escaped Nintendo's filter. You can't get Sperm or even Semen to show up -- but the process of shooting that substance right out the end of your cock is apparently perfectly acceptable. For the record, typing "Cock" only gives you "Cocktail."
It is possible the word got through thanks to its lesser known meaning, but this doesn't hold true for other words that autocomplete blocks, and when we say "Ejaculation", you know what we're talking about. Because this is a case of JOURNALISM, we shall extensively follow this up to find out!

Mortal Kombat isn't in stores for a few more weeks, but Netherrealm has already revealed the first two characters you'll be able to add to the game's already impressive roster as download content. The blind swordsman Kenshi will be available along with an interesting piece of Mortal Kombat history, Scarlet.
As confirmed in an CVG interview with Netherrealm producer Hans Lo, Scarlet will only appear for the first time in this new Mortal Kombat game but originates out of a glitch in the arcade version of Mortal Kombat II. As many of the characters were simply palette-swaps of other characters, occasionally the game would cause these characters to appear in red despite there being no red version. While the male ninja model would inspire the character Ermac (his name a reference to an error counter), the female ninja was left to fan speculation, who named her "Skarlett."
Netherrealm also offers some reassurance for fans who might remember those palette-swaps and be afraid that they won't be getting their money's worth out of DLC characters. "They won't be copy and pasted from characters already in the game - they're going to have their own unique fighting styles, moves, fatalities and x-rays - all the good stuff," says Lo.
All great news, far as I'm concerned. I rarely get excited about fighting games, having no particular talent for them. But the more I see of Mortal Kombat and the more times I play through the demo on my PS3, I can't help but be interested. It feels like the logical progression of the original arcade trilogy into the modern era and the raw brutality makes me feel giddy in the way it did to a twelve year-old Conrad illicitly playing in the way back of a pizza parlor.

Add to myYahoo!Video Games Live is Fantasia for gamers. This multimedia celebration of video game music pares symphony and choir performances of video game music against backdrops showing clips of the games themselves. I saw the March 26th show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and was blown away by the powerful, funny and moving [...]

With the crazy popularity of Angry Birds, I wouldn't be surprised if a real movie ever happens. There's a cartoon in the works, after all. A concept which sounds worse than Catdog (how did they pee?!)
Hopefully that day never comes, unless of course it's in the style of Rooster Teeth's take. Then I'll happily watch it.

Once Upon a Pixel is my favorite gaming related video series on the internet. Unlike most shows about games and gamers, Once Upon a Pixel never goes for the cheap laugh or the unwarranted misappropriation of the source material. You wont see Sonic as a potty-mouthed lout or Mario as a blood thirsty maniac here. Although that kind of "kid friendly characters get mean and gross" comedy almost always gets a laugh, it rarely has much to say. With Once Upon a Pixel, Ashley and Anthony clearly wanted more than that. Sure the show is funny, but it's also a smart, heartfelt, and most importantly, genuine love letter to gaming.
That's why I'll be picking up their series now that it's on DVD. The bonus features alone make it worth the purchase -- commentary from Anthony and Ashley, lessons on drawing your favorite videogame characters from Ashley, and all the art every used from the series ever created.
If that's not worth a few of your hard earned bucks, I don't know what is.

[Community member Portable Nerd brings us a creative and pretty-awesome-looking solution to the 3DS's poor battery life, and just in time for the portable's launch! Wondering why you're seeing this on the front page? Go here for the answer. -- Kauza]
Today, folks, (or Tue. for us Amazon pre-orders). That's when the 3DS comes to the masses. It's now a commonly known fact that the 3DS battery life is quite a bit shorter than that of the 3DS. Unfortunate but not entirely unexpected nor unable to be worked around. There are many tips out there currently about how to increase your play time and decrease your charge time. Keeping the 3DS on the charging cradle between use is one. Turning down the brightness setting and not using 3D all the time is another. But, what about a gadget that would help to charge your 3DS while you used it on the go without turning it into a portable system that's about the size of the Atari Lynx?
Enter the Universal Gadget Wrist Charger! Otherwise known as the "Bracer of Battery Life +2," this handy little thing contains a 1,500mAh 5.5V rechargeable lithium ion battery that charges via the USB port on your PC and weighs about 82 grams. It has a LED power level indicator and an on/off switch. Sound like your kind of gadget? More details follow.
It also comes with nine different adapters and can charge a whole list of your favorite goodies like:
iPhone
Nokia II (2mm)
Nokia I (3.5mm)
Mini USB (for Motorola/HTC/Dopod/MP3/MP4)
LG
Samsung i900
Sony Ericsson
Sony PSP
NDS Lite
Nintendo DSi
Yes, I do realize that the 3DS is not listed, but the 3DS uses the same charger that the DSi and DSi XL uses so the bracer should have no trouble in charging the 3DS. Now, as to what sort of time extension this will provide I do not know, but it's an option that I'm sure quite a few people will be at least mildly interested in. I plan on putting an order in for one and trying it out myself, just to see what sort of results I get. Of course, not having to worry about extending the battery life would be the best option but it doesn't look like that's going to be realistic anytime soon.

He did it! Isaiah "Triforce" Johnson, the determined gamer who started camping out for the 3DS launch at Best Buy's Union Square location back on Monday, bought the first 3DS sold in the United States.
How crummy would it have been if the poor guy waited in line for days and didn't get the first US handheld? Yeah, that'd be a real downer. But, he was successful -- in more ways than one.
While he was at the launch event, Triforce also managed to get Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime to autograph his Power Glove, reports 3DS Gamer.
