Do you love Geralt of Rivia? Do you love stomping through the lands of Temeria, taking on creature and thug with blazing silver and steel? Or do you enjoy chatting up the ladies? Then don't put away your wolf-head just yet, Gerry, The Witcher 2 may yet receive an expansion along with a sequel.
In a recent conversation with Eurogamer, game designer and writer Jan Bartkowicz spoke on the possibility of an expansion for The Witcher 2. "All I can say is we're planning on releasing something. [The Witcher 2.0 is] not the last update for The Witcher 2. That's what I can assure you."
As for the likelihood of a third game, Bartkowicz said: "We still have one big title ahead of us in The Witcher franchise. All I can say is -- outside of when the pre-production starts and finishes -- with the story team we were probably in pre-production for The Witcher 3 during making The Witcher 2."
Nothing official has been confirmed from CD Projekt Red on whether or not they will be releasing an expansion or a sequel, but a port of the PC version will be landing on the Xbox 360 sometime in the first quarter of 2012. The 360 version will include the content that will be releasing as The Witcher 2.0 for PC on September 29.
There will be additional content available to purchase for the 360 as well, but lucky PC owners get to have this content for free. Ahh, it's a good time to be a PC gamer.

Keychains are one thing, but these? Now you're playing dirty, Japan!
A pair of New Super Mario Bros.-branded figurines were released recently in Japan. These sets produce sound to recreate two very iconic moments in Mario history. The one on the right plays the warp jingle as Mario enters one pipe and emerges from the other. However, it's the one on the left that catches my eye -- a diorama of Mario stomping a Koopa Troopa shell against a staircase to rack up infinite 1UPs. Incredible.
Both items are available on Amazon Japan for a respectable 777 yen (about $10) apiece. Of course, you'd need to order through a proxy service if you want these delivered outside of Japan. I need to get me the 1UP set, like, yesterday.

Whether it be due to lack of fresh and hip new IPs during it's first quarter of the year or spending too much on that fancy swivel chair, Zynga's year-on-year profits have taken a huge hit. From a recent SEC filing, Zynga shows that it's profits declined 95%, from $27.2 million to $1.3 million.
On top of that, for the first time in Zynga's history, microtransaction and ad revenue has dropped 4%. This is not too surprising considering this follows at a 4% drop in daily user activity. I suppose some people just don't care about their chickens anymore.
But worry not, faithful Facebook agriculturalist, even with this drop Zynga's revenue continues to stay in the range of cartoonish supervillian. It's overall revenue for this quarter did show a 15% increase from last quarter, and with continued support for one of the most played social games on the planet, this dog has nothing to worry about.

Our own Jim Sterling recently posted an article about how he sometimes feels alienated from the gaming community because he doesn't appreciate "classic" games like Shadow of the Colossus. It's a great piece, but admittedly, a little part of me felt bitter while reading it. "You think it's hard not liking a PS2 title that sold under a million copies in the United States?' I whined to myself "What do you think it's like to be a non-fan of Uncharted, GTA, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, and just about every other 'realistic', overblown, action-focused, power fantasy game on the market today?"
The thing is, there is a chance I could have liked Uncharted, if it focused less on pretending to be an action movie, and more on taking advantage of the fact that it was a videogame. This whole "try to make every game like a Hollywood movie" thing that Sony has picked up in the PS3 era has been pretty rough for an old Ape Escape/Gitaroo Man/Parappa-days Sony fan like myself. Sadly, it sounds like I almost had a chance of enjoying Uncharted, but according to Naughty Dag, "Sony kept pushing for a more realistic game in all respects. The market had changed a lot by then. The demographic was older and gritty shooters were really dominating. Sony wanted very much to get into that market share, it pushed all of its developers in this direction."
Now that the Wii, the DS, and the iPhone have been "really dominating" for most of the past five years, I wonder if PS4 games are all going to be "pushed" to look like Wii Sports and Angry Birds? I might be down with that.

Part of what makes this Gears of War 3 Easter egg so fun is that it's a stark contrast to how serious the series takes itself. The other part is that it's a gun which fires live, exploding chickens.
The Cluckshot, a fowl-centric take on the Boomshot, is a secret weapon that can be obtained in single-player on Insane difficulty. The method itself delves into spoiler territory, so I'll point you to GameFront's video walkthrough and say nothing more given how recent Gears 3 still is. Wonder what other surprises are hiding in there.

Seeing as how we'll never get a Twin Peaks game in the same vein as L.A. Noire, sad as that makes me, this Atari 2600 tribute will have to do. It's a free game for PC and Mac fittingly called Black Lodge.
The instruction manual and box art are representative of the era, which is a great touch. Similarly, the game itself isn't immediately forthcoming with what you (Agent Cooper) are supposed to do. The end result isn't particularly fun to play, but entertaining? Sure. And strangely creepy.
I swear, every other week another one of our readers gets into Twin Peaks for the first time. Figured there are enough of you now to make this worth a mention.
