Super Monkey Ball has always seemed like one of those series that tries to get its titles in as launch games. It was one of my first GameCube purchases, and after looking over the Nintendo 3DS' launch line-up, chances are high I'll be picking up the appropriately titled Super Monkey Ball 3D next month.
Sega has sent out some screenshots for the game; spoiler: the monkeys are still stuck in those darned balls. It's got single-player levels, obviously, and also the standard Monkey Race and Monkey Fight modes which can handle up to four in wireless multiplayer.
I'm going to regret this purchase six months from now, aren't I?

You might have already known that composer Inon Zur was back to score BioWare's Dragon Age II. But here's a little surprise: English artist Florence + The Machine (Florence Welch) will appear on the soundtrack, as well.
"I'm Not Calling You A Liar (Dragon Age II Varric's Theme)" is a "re-imagining" of a track from Florence's 2009 album, Lungs. It's not a new recording, however -- Florence's vocals were isolated from the original track, with music reworked by Zur for Dragon Age II.
"What was originally a powerfully tark, acoustic-based song has been reborn with all-new instrumentation and full orchestration," says Elecronic Arts' World Executive of Music Steve Schnur. "The results are an epic anthem for the next stage of the Dragon Age legend."
The full soundtrack, including the "I'm Not Calling You A Liar" remix, will be available for purchased via "digital music services" on March 8 for $3.99. For those interested, EA release samples of Zur's Dragon Age II music a few weeks back.

Independent Games Festival Student Showcase finalist Gemini Rue is, after being worked on in the shadows for some time, finally out. It's a retro-style, sci-fi/noir point-and-click adventure title for PC. Like, how many appealing descriptors for Sierra and LucasArts fans can you fit in one sentence?
Wadjet Eye Games is offering a demo, too. Gemini Rue is $14.99, but if you chip in $10 more, you'll get the Limited Edition CD package. That includes the game (with a digital copy), developer commentary, and the MP3 soundtrack -- it's only being sold through February 27.

Remember those incredibly douchey 3DS lifestyle shots that we posted a while ago? Well, Nintendo has followed up that spot of douchiness with some turbo-douchiness, definitively doubling your douche divisions.
Watch the video and try to pick which one you'd like to slap the hardest. I've also named them for your convenience -- Nostrils O' Hoolihan, Quinzel Spinstress, Ryu Hazuki, Fergus Gingerdick, Mr. Hat-Wearing Shitmuncher and Curly Fructose.

Despite announcing Beyond Good & Evil 2 three years ago, Ubisoft seems intent on backtracking and bargaining, almost as if it wants to get out of delivering what was promised. BG&E HD producer Wang Xu is the latest to contribute to the sage, telling fans not to give up hope.
"Keep the faith," he stated, before jokingly adding, "... Please buy Beyond Good & Evil HD if you want more BG&E games."
He added that he "didn't know" if Ubisoft was seriously using Beyond Good & Evil HD as a test to see if a market for the sequel exists. One could be pretty sure, however, that if the digital version doesn't sell, then we won't get Beyond Good & Evil 2.
In any case, I'm personally getting sick of Ubisoft's angst and I'd love it to either shit or get off the pot. The current message Ubi has radiated is that it doesn't want to do this. If that's truly the case, someone needs to grow a pair and just bloody admit it.
Either Ubisoft wants to do this, or it doesn't. What's it going to be?

Here's an absurd amount of screens for the 3DS launch title, Samurai Warriors Chronicles. With Dynasty Warriors 7 looking far less compelling, and the rest of the 3DS launch titles looking crappy, I've been anticipating this game a lot more.
These screens reveal the Street Pass function and the shopping elements of the game. A number of images also reveal the downloadable content that will be available. Looks like a very robust game, and one that seems much better than I original thought it would be.
This will probably be the only game I want to pick up at the 3DS' launch, so it better be good.

It's a trend I personally despise, since it screws the end user out of content, but major publishers offer retailer-specific pre-order bonuses for almost every big game nowadays. Today, Rockstar revealed the various in-game (and out-of-game) goodies you'll get if you put your money down ahead of time for its upcoming 1940s open-world crime thriller, L.A. Noire, at particular retailers.
As usual, GameStop seems like your best bet: if you pre-order there (PS3/360), you'll get an extra detective case from the LAPD Vice Desk, "The Naked City," as well as the Badge Pursuit Challenge, which, once completed, will provide you with an extra-ammo outfit for protagonist Cole Phelps. Amazon pre-orders (PS3/360) will receive a special costume, "The Broderick," a suit that ups your melee skills and damage resistance. (Amazon is also offering a $10 videogames credit.)
If you pre-order the game from Best Buy (PS3/360), or buy it in-store on launch day, you'll receive a suit called "The Sharpshooter"; as you might have guessed, it improves your accuracy with rifles and pistols. Do either of those things at Wal-Mart (PS3/360), and for your faith in L.A. Noire, the big-box retailer will give you "The Slip of the Tongue," a bonus case from the Traffic Desk. (Online pre-orders will also receive a $10 Walmart.com/samsclub.com eGift Card.)
Target will give you a $5 gift card if you pre-order from them (PS3/360), and if you buy the game in-store during launch week, you'll get a free Rockstar Games T-shirt. Rockstar itself is also offering clothing: a pre-order from Rockstar's official store (PS3/360), the Rockstar Warehouse, will net you an official L.A. Noire T-shirt (men's sizes S-2XL, women's sizes M-L).
Here's more info on the Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Wal-Mart bonus content, straight from Rockstar:
Amazon.com (Pre-Order)
“The Broderick” Detective Suit boosts your fist-fighting capabilities and resilience to damage. Throughout L.A. Noire while working cases, you’ll encounter quite a few suspects and persons of interest who prove to be resistant to arrest. Your hand-to-hand fighting skills will be called into action on these cases -- the Broderick suit with its enhanced fighting abilities may be that edge in helping make that collar.Best Buy (Pre-Order)
“The Sharpshooter” Detective Suit enhances your aim with rifles and pistols. Always a worst case scenario for any detective working a case, there are of course those occasions for Cole Phelps when pursuing a suspect escalates to gunfire. In these tense shootouts, the Sharpshooter suit provides that extra aiming precision to take the criminal down.GameStop/EB Games (Pre-Order)
‘The Naked City’ Vice Case
In this bonus case from L.A. Noire’s Vice Desk, detective Cole Phelps investigates the supposed suicide of a stunning fashion model. Can you help Cole unravel the truth in a city blighted by drugs, corruption and greed, where the death of a beautiful woman is never as straightforward as it seems?
The Badge Pursuit Challenge
Hidden around L.A. Noire’s beautiful recreation of 1947 Los Angeles are 20 police badges to find and collect. If you can find all 20 of these badges, the dapper Button Man suit will be unlocked which provides extra ammo for all weapons. Each badge also provides 5 additional XP which will help further unlock Intuition Points -- special credits that can be used to give Phelps a key investigative insight when you need it most.Wal-Mart (Web Pre-Order or In-store Purchase on May 17)
“A Slip of the Tongue” Traffic Case is a bonus case from the Traffic Desk in which a seemingly run of the mill car theft ends up sparking an explosive investigation into the largest auto fraud racket the city has ever seen. With the stolen cars piling up and questionable characters at every turn, can you help Cole Phelps crack the biggest case so far in his career?
Check out the gallery below for some cool posters advertising the retailer-specific bonuses. L.A. Noire will be out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 17th. You can see its box art here.

If you're hoping to get your twitching fingers on Atlus' sexy "Q*Bert with tits" horror puzzler Catherine, then prepare for some bad news. Atlus has confessed that it currently has no intention of bringing the game Westward.
Atlus' US branch was quite frank with its statement: “Catherine is a Japan-only game and there are no plans for a NA release at this time. Sorry about that!”
So that's that. Bear in mind, of course, that a lack of planning does not mean the game will never get localized. Currently, the game is doing quite well in Japan, so that's at least a sign that the property is making some cash. Whether that cash will be spent on giving Catherine to the round-eyes, who knows?
As of right now, don't hold your breath, but don't kill yourself out of depression either. I'd be surprised if this didn't make it here eventually, given Atlus' history.

Add to myYahoo!Dragon Age: Origins was an epic action RPG. It set new standards of quality both in combat and for its exquisite use of conversation trees. However, as good as the original was, it also had some serious flaws; combat felt unresponsive at best and downright broken at its worst, and the conversation trees often contained [...]
