Nintendo to offer live coverage of their E3 press
conference

NEWS - Every year when it comes to E3, I expect big things from Nintendo. In the past we've seen the debut of the DS, Wii, 3DS, and much more from the video gaming giant. Now though, gamers can actually sit in on the conference from the comfort of their own home. At 9 a.m. PST on Tuesday, June 7th, gamers can head over to http://e3.nintendo.com and check out Nintendo's E3 press conference via live webcast. Should be interesting and I hope I'm off that day.

So, this is mighty strange. Japanese director Takashi Miike, famed for intensely violent films like Ichi the Killer and Audition, is going in a very different direction for his next film project. Speaking with The Huffington Post at Cannes, Miike said, "It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."

I don't want to say that Takashi Miike is making a film based on the Ace Attorney series. Not that I can think of any other game on the DS set in a courtroom which is a light comedy or because I think Miike should not do such a thing. In fact, I'm sure such a film would be weird and wonderful. I just don't want to jinx it or get my hopes up.

Tonight Backlog sets forth on its fifteenth game, the creepy, crawly Deadly Creatures for Wii. I'm excited to play a game that Chad found enough inspiration in to write a feature urging developers to take note. I also like games which present the world from a micro-perspective and anything which has Dennis Hopper in it.

While we're being honest, the game could have just been Dennis Hopper repeating his dialog from Apocalypse Now for six hours and I'd still have bought it.

We have moved into the voting phase of The Saxxy Awards, Valve's way of getting Team Fortress 2 players to flood YouTube with many a short video. A considerable number of them may be pure trash, but there are gems to be found.

Thankfully, the voting system is set up smartly. Pick a category, and you're presented with a pair of videos. Then, you vote on the better of the two -- potentially flagging any outliers along the way -- and you're given more content to comb through. Simple as that.

Be warned, you can get sucked into this easily if you aren't careful.

Gross. Like wash your face with cold water gross. I visited Amsterdam last week and in the red light district I saw a midget woman painted blue, from head to toe. IRL Smurf, folks. This rumor is grosser than that.

The rumor is that Microsoft will unveil full 3D for the Xbox 360 at next month's E3.

"They’d be mad not to do it, is all I can say," an unnamed source told VG247. "The machine is not only very capable, it’s more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo, assuming you don’t have one of the old crappy ones with the composite leads… assuming you have a HDMI Xbox."

Sounds like fishy crap to me! This "source" doesn't even sound sure of himself in the quote.

Every time I've talked to Microsoft in the past, they've always dumped on 3D for gaming. Sure, they could have changed their minds, but I'm not feeling it.

Would any of you even want a 3D Xbox 360?

NEWS - If you missed the reveal trailer during the NBA playoff game tonight or just can't stand the NBA (like me) here's the big reveal trailer for Modern Warfare 3 that Activision released tonight. In the trailer we catch glimpses of battles in the US, UK, France, and Germany along with some underwater stuff along with lots and lots of stuff blowing up.

It doesn't look bad but I'm interested to see how far beyond Modern Warfare 2 the game is as a lot of this footage feels familiar.

Relic gameplay designer Clint Tasker has a beefy post about some upcoming premium wargear for Dawn of War II's The Last Sand, which is also available as a standalone game.

The focus here appears to be introducing new gear that addresses each of the heroes' current weaknesses. For those unfamiliar, The Last Stand allows you to run with different character builds, each determined by what gear you have equipped. So yes, this is promising news.

Logistics don't seem to be finalized yet; no word on pricing or a release date. I feel like I'm always saying this, but seriously, The Last Stand is incredibly fun. Not enough of you have played it yet, and you ought to.

Epic Games today revealed the lifesize replica Retro Lancer, created by the fine folks at NECA in anticipation of Gears of War 3's release. These pre-chainsaw Lancer rifles are stabby good, and the replicas look damn hot.

The beastly weapon is to scale at over 3.5 feet in length, and will play sounds when the trigger is pulled. You can run at children with it and scare the crap out of them.

In North America, these fake guns will be exclusive to GameStop and can be obtained as a bundle with the game or a standalone item. It'll be available from September 13. NECA is currently "locking down" international distribution deals.
