Nintendo of Japan has just announced their next handheld unit, tentatively named the "Nintendo 3DS." The portable platform will offer 3D gaming without the need for 3D glasses, and will be backwards compatible with DS and DSi games. The "Nintendo 3DS" is the successor to the Nintendo DS series and will be on display at this year's E3. We can expect the "Nintendo 3DS" to launch in Japan by the end of the fiscal year, which means that we'll see it somewhere between E3 2010 (in June) and March 2011.
3D is the next major step in gaming, but the only thing that's really holding it back is the need for 3D glasses. Nintendo seems to have gotten around that peripheral limitation with their new portable and it will be interesting to see just how Nintendo pulls this off at E3.

This isn't the first time someone's resorted to harvesting watts for their Pokéwalker without going outside for a quick stroll down the block -- as evidenced by this hilarious scheme -- but it is by far the most ridiculous one I've seen yet.
The video above displays how the nefarious contraption works. Essentially, the device violently shakes an unsuspecting Pokéwalker by tapping into the raw power of K'Nex. That's it. Simple, yet brilliant. Don't you go getting any funny ideas on me here -- you'll have to earn those watts the old fashioned way.
This .gif sums it all up rather nicely.

NEWS - Since I just picked up my PS3 this past weekend, I'm only scratching the surface of how versatile the machine is. Hyperkin has developed a device that appeals to me on a variety of levels. It's called the PS3 Text Link Remote. It has a sliding QWERTY keyboard, the keys of a game controller, and the functionality of a remote control. It has a USB charging cable and comes in at the price of $39.99.
A picture is worth a thousand words so check it out. If you are interested, find out more on Hyperkin's web site. I'm interested and will probably put this on my wish list so I don't forget about it.

NEWS - This week’s Nintendo downloads is another one with a disappointing lack of a Virtual Console download. Nevertheless, there is still some classic gaming to be had with Nintendo in this week’s lineup.
Available on the Wii is Cave Story (1,200 points), which sets you on the task of helping the Mimiga race avoid the mad scientist. 2004 is considered old school now, right?
On to the games more classic in nature are the Game & Watch series that are being made available for the DSi. Each of the three in the series is at 200 points. In addition to those three titles are Drift Street International (800 points) and Libera Wing (800 points) for your racing and action-strategy pleasure, respectively.
Read on for the details on each game of this week’s list of new Nintendo downloads.

NEWS - We've known for a while that the Witcher 2 was in development but it looks like the folks at CD Projekt are getting closer to officially announcing the game as the Witcher website now features a glowing number 2. Nothing official in terms of a date but I'm starting to think we might get an official announcement later this week at PAX East. Otherwise it seems a bit odd to announce the game so far in advance of E3. We'll let you know when we know more.
