No expiration date: how Hidden Variable kept an app about groceries fresh [interview] (Android)
In all honesty, we won't be able to do the briskly-paced insanity of last week's episode -- you can't keep that kind of stuff up week after week without it getting less funny, or without one of the cast members getting an aneurysm and dying. We must march onward and record tonight's 130th episode of Podtoid, knowledge of our coming disappointment be damned.
We need your listener questions, of course, and you can ask them here. We don't have any specifically Christmas-related news topics to discuss, so if you wanna ask crap about the holidays, I guess now is the time.

NEWS - If you missed out on the game that many are calling the downloadable game of the year, Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex is this weeks XBLA deal of the week. Shadow Complex, the "Metroid-vania" sidescroller that took the XBLA by storm back in August is marked down from 1200 to 800 MS points this week. I'm a gamer, always have been. Problem is for a large number of years that's really just consisted of the video variety. That's a huge mistake on my part, to not enjoy the video game's analog brethren... the board game. There?s actually a vibrant and intense board game world out there that?s been pushed to the sidelines by game players such as ourselves for too long. In this column I'll be diving into this world, looking at games that hopefully you'd like to try out for yourself.
OK I ain't gonna lie, last column's game ZERTZ was a bit of a mind-bender. Maybe abstract games aren't really your thing, and that's cool. Maybe you're looking for something a bit lighter, fun and fancy free... well that's fine too. Actually, it's better than fine because today I'm going to hit you right in the face with what you've been looking for! It's called Cloud 9 and point of the game is to earn points by braving the ride in a hot air balloon as it rises into the clouds. Potential points increase as the balloon rises, but so does the potential that it'll crash and you'll earn nothing! Jump out at the right time and you'll run away with the victory!
Ready to take a ride?

It looks like those Xbox LIVE individual music stores that have been teased since the last update are finally hitting today.
Microsoft has announced that stores for Rock Band, Lips, and Guitar Hero should be available for download today. The first store, Guitar Hero VIP Pass, is a standalone program that points to all available downloadable content for the Hero titles. In functionality, it looks and feels a heck of a lot like the Rock Band music store which already exists in-game.
Personally, I find these to be welcome additions. As someone who purchases a lot of Rock Band DLC (yes, I'm guilty of spending way more money than I should), not having to pop the disc in first to browse, preview, and download the content

NEWS - Back in November, we mentioned that GameFly would be bringing its service directly to your iPhone OS device. Yesterday, the GameCenter iPhone OS App from GameFly received its first update that adds in some much needed content. The latest update (v1.1) adds in content such as screenshots, over 5,000 hi-res trailers and an easier way to view the information, with most updates due to consumer feedback. In addition, performance enhancements have been made to the back end, and additional news coverage from Shacknews was added. The great thing about GameCenter is that you don’t even have to be a GameFly subscriber to benefit from it, as the app is free to download. Take a look at more info about GameCenter at GameFly, or download it directly from iTunes.
