Military faction from Greed Corp revealed

NEWS - The merciless faction from the turn-based strategy game Greed Corp has been revealed to be the Empire. The Empire has the largest population led by a powerful leader who oversees the faction's cultural and technological advancements as well as they superior military might. Almost all of the weaponry in the Mistbound world originated from the Empire's many factories, as they are a machine of war.

Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection now
available on Steam

NEWS - Final Fantasy Fans (try saying that five times fast) listen up because the Ultimate Collection, which includes Final Fantasy XI and all its expansion packs and additional scenarios (four expansions and three add-on scenarios in total) is now available on Steam. The package is priced modestly at $19.99, a great price for that amount of content. If you're interested, you can get it here.

For those not necessarily 'in the know', this deal includes: Final Fantasy XI, the Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urghan, and Wings of the Goddess expansions, as well as A Crystalline Prophecy, Ode of Life Bestowing, and A Moogle Kupo d'Etat add-on scenarios.

Star Trek: D-A-C on its way to Mac

NEWS - The top down arcade shooter Star Trek: D-A-C, otherwise known as game with a bizarre and decidedly uncatchy title is on its way to the Mac platform via the GameTreeOnline digital distribution platform. The game is basically Star Trek meets Geometry Wars and it includes single-player or 12-player online combat where you choose to fight as the Federation (good guys) or the Romulans (bad guys).

Star Trek: D-A-C will be available in December., for more information check out the game's website.

Here's some news that should make Apple fanboys happy: Gameloft says that it will be scaling back its investment in games for the Android platform, and that other development companies are doing so as well. The French game developer, who makes most its money off of mobile games, says that many other companies are following suit thanks to Google's lack of promotion of the games on their platform and the service not being as well put together as the iPhone's.

This was all revealed at a recent shareholders meeting in which Gameloft finance director Alexandre de Rochefort said, "We have significantly cut our investment in Android platform, just like... many others." He then went on to state that Android's app store is "not as neatly done as on the iPhone." Following that statement up by slamming Google themselves for a lack of support: "Google has not been very good to entice customers to actually buy products. On Android nobody is making significant revenue."

I've seen that new Droid phone and played around with it a bit, and I must admit he is correct about the service not being as neatly done, but the phone is just out of the gate and there are a ton of other models that use Android set to hit. I doubt it will hurt Gameloft too much since they are still developing for Android, but they might be kicking themselves over this decision in a few months time.

Learn about UPlay from soothing female voice

Recently Ubisoft announced and released its UPlay service to the gaming masses, and the gaming masses looked on and didn't care all that much. The service is yet another way to organize your games and get achievements, and seems pretty cool for those on the PC, but utterly irrelevant to those who play Ubisoft games on the 360 or PS3. The only purpose to picking it up is getting the free DLC unlocks by earning points through Achievements "Accomplishments."

This fact is even further backed up by the video above, which shows that UPlay looks exactly like the 360's dashboard. I'm sure those of us who have already used the beta service noticed this before, but cramming all the ways they ripped off Microsoft's design into one video really drives the point home. It is interesting to see a Rabbid in the video, however. The Rabbids have appeared on consoles outside of the Wii, but that is their main home. Could UPlay appear on the Wii as well, and if so would that mean a third party will do more on the Wii with internet than Nintendo will ever do?
