You might not have heard, but they had to shut down operations at the Large Hadron Collider again. I didn't mention this when it happened a couple weeks ago because it was Nick's birthday and that gave me a good excuse to make fun of him, which is somehing I like to do from time to time. But they did. You know why?
Because a bird dropped a piece of bread on it.
Let's review. Work was halted on the world's largest high-energy particle accelerator, because a passing bird dropped a piece of bread onto a section of exterior machinery. This resulted in significant overheating in parts of the collider, forcing scientists to ...
... you know what, I think they're making this shit up. First there was the coolant leak, then that whole bit about this thing coming back from the future to destroy itself. Now you're telling me they put the brakes on the whole project because a goddamned seagull decided he didn't want that crouton for lunch after all.
They're not even trying to be sneaky about it, they just show up to work and play Animal Crossing or something all day. Then when the benefactors stop by and ask why the collider's not running yet, they cook up these stories and then laugh about it when everyone leaves.
Point is, I should have been a physicist. Those guys know how to Friday.
And now, a guy stacking a bunch of shit onto a Lego block and then knocking it over.

Jesus C*nting Christ! Despite there being roughly ten billion Sonic the Hedgehog compilations, it seems that Sega feels we can always have more, and has recently submitted Sonic Classic Collection to the OFLC for rating. This time, the blue blur will be reliving his long-lost glory days on the DS.
Sega has not officially announced the game yet, but we all know what to expect -- a bunch of Genesis games we already own, flavored with the irony of Sega constantly re-releasing good Sonic games while being unable to make any decent new ones. It will probably lack anything new, interesting or rarely seen, and the only one worth replaying will be Sonic 2, which everybody already has eighteen copies of.
I can't believe Sega is still able to make money doing this.

Looking to go unconventional with the narrative, the team behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s innards tossed around several fantastic ideas before settling on the series’ familiar and grounded reality. Aliens and zombies and outbreaks and viruses were considered as a threat at one point in the initial planning stages.
“Infinity Ward's Jason West, Steve Macuda, Todd Alderman, Mackey McCandlish and me would talk about the kinds of stories we could tell, and we didn't want to just make a straight sequel to Modern Warfare,” said Modern Warfare 2 scriptwriter Jesse Stein in a recent interview with GamePro. “We started kicking around anything and everything to weed out the bad ideas.
“In the beginning we talked about having things in Modern Warfare 2 like outbreaks, viruses, chemical warfare, and even outlandish things such as aliens and the living dead,” he said.
Stein said that after the team decided to do grounded events, they kept conjuring up situations or scenarios that had already happened in the real world. Fortunately, IW and Stein did find some stuff that hasn’t: without going into specifics, MW2 is filled with brilliant scenarios that, thankfully, haven’t happened to our knowledge.
Still, though, “No Russian” would have been awesome with zombies and ray guns.
