Rumor: Grand Theft Auto V is 'well under way' screenshot

I know, I know -- they're supposedly making another Grand Theft Auto title? What are they, some sort of business or something? According to GameSpot's sources, pegged as being close to Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto V is coming.

In fact, it's reportedly "well under way." A release in 2012 is also said to be "pretty likely." Oh yeah, and one more quote, because having three looks better than two: "it's the big one."

You don't say! Now that the Saints Row series has taken a distinct direction and run with it, I'm curious to see where GTA will go next. What are you hoping for?

The Story & Controller

Hudson's Adventure Island

Game Story: The Evil Witch Doctor has kidnapped Princess Leilani from
Master Higgins and taken her to Adventure Island in the
South Pacific. It is your mission to help Master Higgins and save Princess
Leilani, but it's not going to be easy. On the island, there are forests,
mountains, caves, many enemy characters, and traps waiting for you. Can
Master Higgins save Princess Leilani from the Evil Witch Doctor?

Control Functions:

Control Pad: moves Master Higgins left and right

A Button: Master Higgins jumps

B Button: shoots weapons or push while running
to make him faster

Energy Level: Master Higgins' energy level is displayed on top of the
screen.
The level will decrease as the time passes by.
By catching the fruits on the screen you will be able to add a little bit of
energy back or get a bottle of milk to fill them all up. Of course, loosing
all energy means the game is over.

Power Up Items

About the game: At the beginning, Master Higgins has nothing with him.
As he explores the island, he will find eggs that turn into
bonus items such as axe, skateboard, flower, milk, honeygirl, etc. to power
up Master Higgins.
However, there is an item which won't help Master Higgins but will lower
his energy level rapidly. All together there are 8 areas and at the end of
each area awaits the BIG BOSSES.
You must destroy them to advance to the next area.

Stone Axe: Use "B" button to throw them

Skateboard: Will move you faster but can't stop

Flower: Doubles the points of energy fruits

Milk: Fill up the energy of Master Higgins

Honeygirl: Make Master Higgins invincible for a while

Eggplant: Master Higgins' most unfavorite food. Takes energy
away from him rapidly.

There are many hidden items or stages/Find them by exploring the
Adventure Island!

Sneil (10 pts)
Fire (unbeatable)
Pooter (100 pts)
Coyote (500 pts)
Skeleton (10 pts)
Basser (50 pts)
Cavas (100 pts)
Zigmo (50 pts)

Waler (100 pts)
Red Oct (100 pts)
Blue Oct (200 pts)
Kello (200 pts)
There are brown Kello and
green Kello. Be careful as
brown Kello jumps.
Boss Area 1-8
King Quiller (5000 pts)

"Continuing Option"

You can access this "Continuing Option" by pushing the right side of the
movement control button and the START button. However, you are only
allowed to use the "Continuing Option" after finding an egg which contains
the BEE somewhere in Round 1 of Area 1.

For those of you that don't know, the 3DS has a feature called Streetpass that allows you to swap some data with people you pass by who are also carrying their 3DS. You can collect other people's Miis, rate them, use them to battle monsters and collect hats in a turn based mini-RPG that's built into the 3DS, swap 3D puzzle pieces, and that's just with the built in software. If you have retail titles like Super Street Fighter 4 and Nintendogs + Cats, you can get some game-specific Streetpass action as well.

The problem with Streetpass is that not that many people own a 3DS yet, and those who do seldom seem to carry them around. In fact, I rarely see regular DS's in the wild, despite the fact that Nintendo has sold tens of millions of the things in the US over the years.

I was hoping that wouldn't be the case at an event like E3. I brought my 3DS to the event to see how many Streetpasses I could get. Here's what happened.

We already got word that Robin would be made available at Best Buy as a pre-order incentive for Batman: Arkham City. Now Warner Bros. has confirmed it, along with an image and some fresh details.

Robin -- the Tim Drake version -- will be a playable character in the challenge mode of the upcoming game. Warner says that he'll come with his own special gadgets and moves, playable on all challenge maps, as well as two new ones included with the character: Black Mask Hideout and Freight Train Escape. You'll also get a bonus "Red Robin" character skin to boot.

While this is available exclusively at Best Buy, it's likely it'll be made available for purchase somewhere down the line. Warner's wording on this announcement is that the pack is "currently available exclusively to North American fans who pre-order the game from Best Buy." So you know, if you want to pony up some cash later, I'm sure the publisher will be open to that.

A new trailer for Tropico 4 confirms one thing: it's more of what Tropico 3 gave us. Which is really all I need to know to make it my third most anticipated game for the rest of this year after Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Arkham City.

Why? Because I put around 80 hours total into Tropico 3 on the Xbox 360. Not because I hated the PC version, but because the control scheme worked well on the console and you could manage the slow-moving life of a banana republic island with your feet up, lying down on the couch. It was the ultimate exercise in laziness!

So here's to 80 more hours of laziness, and I hope we get to kill Juanito again if he makes a reappearance.
