Tell you what -- I'm not very good at first-person shooters. And since Team Fortress 2 has been out for years, the learning curve is way out of my reach; but I kind of dig on the brassy, big band soundtrack. What to do?
Play Dylan Loney's Great Class Dash, a 2.5D sidescrolling platformer based on TF2's nine classes, natch. Today marks the game's first public release, and a cursory glance at the trailer reveals a Canabalt-inspired romp through Canada, Egypt, a swamp, and a volcano. Everything -- the animation, the character models, the environments -- looks really crisp, although I do wish the camera was a little more zoomed in on the action. Though I suppose that'd make it harder to see upcoming environmental hazards and switch classes (on the fly!) accordingly.
There don't seem to be any enemies, but each class has a special ability that will help you get through the game: The Scout can double jump over large gaps; the Heavy can break barriers; the Pyro's flame-retardant suit keeps him safe from fire and steam; and so on and so forth.
Loney originally developed The Great Class Dash for a level design contest, but he got enough positive feedback to keep the project going. You can download it here.

Fist of the North Star has some new screenshots. You can look at the new screenshots if you want. They are screenshots. Screenshots that are posted on the Internet. For a game. Screenshots.
Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force is not known for gory content, so it's refreshing to see these blood soaked screens. Obviously, you can't have a Fist of the North Star game without brutality, but it's still so odd to see a Warriors game so full of delicious ichor. With Legends of Troy promising similar violence, it seems Omega Force isn't scared of an M-rating anymore.

I guess it's safe to say that I'm a masochist at this point. I continue to look at anything No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise knowing full well that the game may not hit American shores. Still, Travis Touchdown is my hero and I must share this with you, even though it hurts.
The video above is the opening to Heroes' Paradise, which SURPRISE, is the exact same intro as the original Wii version. Except, you know, in HD. Also, there's a sexy picture in the gallery of some of the girls from No More Heroes for you to touch yourselves to you sick f*cks.
No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise will be out on April 15 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan.

Namco Bandai isn't what one thinks of as a company with a soul, but Fragile Dreams producer Kentaro Kawashima has expressed his hope that its latest Wii game will leave players with at least a shred of an emotional reaction. According to him, if gamers are affected even a little bit, he will be "ecstatic beyond measurement."
"I believe that if the game leaves even a shred of something emotional in your heart when you walk away from it, then we’ve succeeded, and that would make me ecstatic beyond measurement," confesses the producer. "I bid you good luck on your journey with Seto, and here’s to hoping you find something special on your adventure."
The game's director, Tomoni Tagawa, adds: "Fragile Dreams was created in hopes of letting players enjoy a new type of game experience while ignoring typical game boundaries. We hope everyone enjoys exploring the wasteland and hopefully the images of the abandoned buildings will have some kind of nostalgic impact on players."
Our review for Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon is coming soon, but I can tell you right now that Kawashima has earned the right to be ecstatic. The game shouldn't be half as beautiful and sad as it is, but it somehow manages to be. If you have a Wii and you want something different, we urge you check it out. It released last Tuesday in America, and should be on UK shelves today!
