It wouldn't be a Friday evening without someone mentioning a quick PC game sale, so here we are.
First up is Darksiders, which has been brought from $40 all the way down to $10 over on Steam. I found it to be a pretty good action-adventure title for the full console asking price back at launch. Totally worthy of an impulse buy at this price.
The Oddboxx -- Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus, Munch's Oddysee, and Stranger's Wrath -- is also on sale, for half price, at places like Direct2Drive and GamersGate. The original Steam release was nigh unplayable for a lot of us, but it's since been fixed. (At least, that's been my experience.)
Lastly, Global Agenda is available for $10 through Sunday, with all proceeds going toward relief efforts for Japan by way of the American Red Cross.

One of the biggest issues with the PlayStation Portable, especially when it comes to the PSPgo, was the tragic lack of availability for digital and UMD versions of games. We'd get one, or the other, and sometimes, if we were lucky, both -- but almost never on day one.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House, speaking to MCV, reassures that this won't be a problem for the next Sony handheld. "One thing we learnt from PSP, is that we want to have simultaneous delivery in digital and physical for NGP."
"Just to clarify that, all games that appear physically will be made available digitally. Not necessarily all games have to be made available physically," he explains.
"What I’d like to see is a hierarchy of different games of different sizes. So at the high-end you’ve got these big, premium games, which by and large will be available physically because that is the most convenient way to access them. And then there’s an opportunity for digital-only, where we might see more experimentation."
It's going to take more convincing than that, I'm afraid.

Games on Demand has never been particularly competitive with its prices, much to the confusion and disappointment of consumers. In recent times, pricing has become more reasonable, but there's still plenty of room for improvement. What gives?
Eurogamer got a choice quote from a Microsoft spokesperson on the matter. "No one retailer has the lowest pricing for every product, and our program is about giving people 24 x 7 convenience and selection when shopping for Xbox 360 games."
"We're incredibly excited about what Games on Demand means for digital distribution, and will continue to evaluate and evolve the service to meet market and consumer demands."
The notion that convenience and competitive prices are mutually exclusive is baffling to me, even from a let's-get-rich business perspective. It will be a triumphant day when companies stop wholly tackling digital distribution from the packaged-goods mindset.

You have to admire a name that says it all. RobotNGun (iOS) is about a robot and gun. How's that for efficiency?
RobotNGun is a fairly standard twin-stick shooter with a heavy focus on upgrades and unlockable weapons. It looks rather basic and the action isn't anything you haven't seen before, but it's still pretty fun and the battle music is rather awesome in its retro cheesiness.
You might as well get it. Do it!
