Red Dead Redemption Life in the West Trailer

In the latest gameplay series we learn of the hardships and struggles of life in the early 20th century on the frontier. The video tours you through life in the rapidly expanding town of Blackwater in the North, to the forts across the frontier of New Austin, to the towns of a Mexico rocked by revolution in the border territories of Nuevo Paraiso.

Activities in the game shown in this trailer are herding cattle, collecting bounties, gambling, drinking, protecting ranches and hunting. After killing animals in the game you can sell the skin for other useful goods. The animals in Red Dead Redemption?s gaming environment are quite vast from various horses, cattle, buffalos, deer?s and my personal favourite bears to name a few.

The physics showcased in the game especially the muscles of the horses is absolutely magnificent. The realism in this game is second to none; Rockstar has spent a lot of development time and money into creating an epic experience for players. I can honestly say hands down that anyone in possession of this game come 21th May will be a proud owner of the finest Wild West sandbox adventure.

Watch and discover the people, places and activities that populate the vast and beautiful world of Red Dead Redemption.

3/18/2010 Ouch My Face Hurts! A Facebook Social
Games Deep Dive.

New Flash Game Development Blog Entry : Mochi Game Developer's Fund Chronicles Num. 2: Ouch My Face Hurts! A Facebook Social Games Deep Dive

So I've never really played a 'social' game on Facebook before today. Since those types of games were propped-up by some as the 'second coming' at FGS, and because the Mochi Game Developer Fund is looking for 'social' games, I decided to experience these amazing monetary achievements for myself and see what I've been missing. I'm not talking about successful Flash games with truly addictive game play that have been made to work with Facebook (i.e. Desktop Tower Defense), I'm talking about the holy grail according to the four social games panelists at FGS: ones that have been built with Facebook in-mind from the ground-up.

Taking a cue from that very same Social Games Panel at FGS, I went to visit one of the 'ladder owners', Zynga to see what games they advertise on their web site. I clicked on a game that I've never heard anyone talk about, Coaster Kingdom (sorry, I refuse to link to it). I'm a huge fan of Roller Coaster Tycoon, and I thought this would be right-up my alley.

However, when I got to the 'game', my 'deep dive' knocked me into reality as my head smacked the very bottom of this wading pool rather quickly and my head still hurts from the shock of it all. What I found was really not a game at all, just a fancy disguise on-top of the Facebook friends, awards and payments system

(much more diatribe after the jump)

EA believes the Star Wars MMO could net over 2

EA believes the Star Wars MMO could net over 2 mil subs screenshot

The price is high with EA's "Star Wars" MMO, and like with most Western MMOs, the cost of development will presumably continue to rise before its 2011 release. The cold, hard business of the matter is that EA will look for a certain amount of loyalists to offset the cost. One analyst, Sterne Agee's Arvind Bhatia, believes that 1 million is that number.

EA expects to exceed that needed offset. According to a recent IndustryGamers report, Agee emerged from an EA meeting with intel indicating that EA expects the MMO to net over 2 million paid subscribers -- a lofty goal (Age of Conan snatched 700k in its first month), but not an impossible one. This is "Star Wars" ... and an MMO, after all. What nerd can resist? The real question, though, is how long will he stay.

These are the opening moments of LEGO Harry
Potter

Here's a new trailer for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which consists of the game's opening cinematic. Once again, the gang at Traveler's Tales have done an excellent job of giving the goofy charm gamers have come to associate with the world's favorite building block.

The market for LEGO series games is probably not as saturated as I think it is, but I think I'm pretty much done with playing the more traditional, platforming, hat-wearing series. With four games already in my collection and a general disinterest in Harry Potter, this is going to be a pass for me. That said, the game does look good. It just looks like more of the same.

How about all of you? Is the lure of Hogwarts enough to get you to toss bricks again?
