With great apologies to the late Hunter S. Thompson, for the out-of-context riffing.
"Luigi had taken his shirt off and was pouring beer on his chest. ... We had two bags of fire flowers, 75 mushrooms, five invincibility stars ... And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge winged turtles, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car ..."

Add to myYahoo!Wonderland Secret Worlds is an isometric puzzle adventure similar to Mr. Robot. In it you take control of several characters who push boxes, flip switches, roll boulders and build bridges to make it to the exit in each stage. The setup is nothing new in the casual gaming world, but somehow the combined package is an extaordinarily fun play. If you don't mind the dated visuals and rather cutesy presentation, Wonderland Secret Worlds will be one of the most enjoyable and satisfying games of its genre you'll ever dive into.

Gamers of my generation may remember Activision's Alter Ego, released in 1986. It was a text-and-graphics, choice-based somewhat-precusor to later games like The Sims or Second Life. The game fascinated me, even as a 13-year-old, with the idea of living another life ? and helping to create such a rich narrative ? or just living that far forward. I feel like I actually have memories of the virtual lives I led in the game:
? As a toddler, gorging on a can of aerosol whipping cream and throwing up.
? As a young man, my girlfriend posing for "Genthouse" Magazine (for the record, I was cool with it. We married.)
? Playing in an old-timer's baseball game as a senior citizen, going back for a long fly ball, collapsing to the ground and dying peacefully as my friends gathered.
Well, here's a site where you can play Alter Ego online. It's been up since 2005, so probably some of you have stumbled onto this before. I scoured Kotaku to make sure we haven't featured it yet. It was truly a beautiful and well written game, created by Dr. Peter Favaro, and worth a look anyway. If you played it when you were younger, looking forward to life as an adult, now you can play it when you're older, to relive simpler days.

Add to myYahoo!According to this update from the game's official development blog, Castle Crashers, the long awaited, XBLA exclusive, hand-drawn 2D beat 'em up from the great minds at the Behemoth is finally complete. This, my friends, is very good news.
With the PS3 soon to be adorned with the magic that will be Metal Gear Solid 4, and the Wii already being graced with the mystery (and schwedy balls) that is Wii Fit, the 360 could desperately use some AAA exclusive to keep up with it's Japanese cousins. It feels like perfect timing that this fantastic game has swooped in just when the 360 needs it. Really, who cares about Petal Rear Squalid Door when you've got Castle Crashers?
Sadly, the game wont be finished finished for up to a few months. There are still various hoops of red tape the Behemoth must jump through before the game can be put out for sale. Until then, remember to keep up with the game's official blog, which still has many characters and items to be revealed. Also, you can play the flash game spin-off, which is quite well made copsidering it's free. Or you can just go at it in River City Ransom. Any and all of the above should do well to put one in the mood for some crashing.

Add to myYahoo!Gametrailers put up this, the second teaser of Dead Space which releases October for the PS3 and 360. It's a backstory trailer, which justifies your reasons for hanging out in outer space with a bunch of rejects from the casting call to "The Mist," while dressed like Boba Fett stuffed into a radiator. I mock it because I doubt I'd play this more than 30 minutes without getting up to pace the room. Creepy games make me edgy as hell.
