Move it, football-head. It's Friday, so today's episode of The Destructoid Show was carefree and whimsical. Here's the rundown:
Jimmy Fallon, that guy who was in Taxi with Queen Latifah, sometimes covers video game news on his late-night talk show. This week's been all post-E3 exclusives, including some PS3 footage of Battlefield 3. I say more irrelevant things about Duke Nukem Forever's critical reception, and so does Duke himself. Jim wrote a really good article about why the game isn't a parody which you should read here.
Zelda fans will be bummed to hear there's no 25th anniversary edition coming out, but I seize the opportunity to say creepy stuff about Robin Williams' daughter. There's some Portal 2 DLC on the way, but it's not what you're expecting. Last but not least, if you submit a video of yourself pretending to play Fruit Ninja Kinect, we'll send you a poster that's been autographed by the guys at Halfbrick. I'll also draw you a picture of whatever you want. Including poo-poo.
Spoiler Alert: In an attempt to look more like Robin Williams, I've grown a beard.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is trucking onwards in development, and while Nick gave us his balanced view on what he played before, Jim just came all over the place. So there's a chance this might be a good game, maybe, possibly, probably.
Watch Hollie Bennett as she tries to maneuver the maze of well-prepared PR answers in order to get you the info you want, while Max just pans up and down this Bethesda guy's entire body. Dragons!

I sat down with Twisted Pixel's Jay Stuckwisch at E3 and watched as he made a woman explode over and over again. It was hot.
It was also really fun! Ms. Splosion Man is upping the insanity by giving us more worlds, crazy multiplayer features and shoes. So many pairs of shoes! It's a bunch of fun and the game is as challenging as ever too. Luckily, our video editor, Bob Muir, didn't include the footage of how I kept failing over in over in the one level I played.
Ms. Splosion Man will be out sometime this Summer for Xbox Live Arcade.

So GameStop has started pre-orders for the "Annihilation" map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. There's no incentive to pre-order, Activision will never run out of download codes for any downloadable content and you can easily download the pack straight from the comfort of your own home once it's released.
So, yeah. This. This is a thing. Really, the only benefit here is that you can trade in some old crap towards the purchase of the new DLC, I guess.

It seems like every time we get a status update on the Gears of War movie, the project hasn't progressed much, if at all. The latest word, direct from Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski himself, pins the film as being "in development hell right now."
"Who knows what'll happen," he continues in a chat with GameFront. "It took however many years for Peter Jackson to make Lord of the Rings. Hollywood is a complicated beast. There's all sorts of weirdness going on with who's working on it, what's going on here and there."
"But, hopefully it happens. Maybe the Gears 3 success will generate more interest in it. I'd love to see it. I'd rather have a movie that's great and true to the franchise, than a movie that sucks. I'd rather not have a movie, than a movie that sucks."

Adventure Island: Wonder Boy 4, or something like that. Adventure Island has always had areas similar to Wonder Boy. Without getting into the history too much, Adventure Island 4 was also the last Famicom game to be released in Japan, and a worthy end to a great console.
Adventure Island 4 delivers what you'd expect: and Island of Adventure. It's a basic Metroidvania done right. You have over 15 items and powerups plus 5 Dinosaurs you can use. There are 6 bosses, 7 "areas", and tons of secrets and fruit to be found.
The timer is gone, but Adventure Island 4 still demands significant skill. The player can earn heart containers, but every hit takes away a full heart. 8 pieces of fruit will restore health, and you can hold a couple potions.
I just finished replaying this game, and it's my favorite of the NES Adventure Islands. It's the kind of game you'll want to play over and over.
I took a considerable amount of screenshots on this last playthrough:
It's dark in here.
The torch can light the way.
The second area has some volcanoes, this reminds me of other Adventure Islands AND Wonderboy games.
The blue dino can walk well on ice, and he gives you the snowboard as well.
Found a spear. The spear sucks and you only need it for 1 jump. You don't fight with it. I guess you could...
Underwater passage that reminds me of The Dynastic Hero.
Crazy mechanical spider boss.
Walking with my new umbrella.
The ice block at this spot melts eventually, and you can explore this area.
Swimming is part of island adventuring.
A cool crystal area.
Four dinos rescued, 1 more to go!
Got the Star dinosaur. He's difficult, but fun, to use.
Tina got captured after I rescued the Dinos, better go get her out of the final dungeon.
Finally! The tomahawk/hammer. This motherfucker will be essential during the fight with the Eggplant Demon.
Skateboarding through the final dungeon :D Some difficult jumps like this require you to use it.
Here's the final password! There is still 1 Heart Container to collect, but everything else is good to go. I like a challenge, so it's time to head to the final boss.
The final boss.
I finally win and gtfo with Tina!
