Ubisoft's gone ahead and announced that Rocksmith has just received its latest stash of downloadable content. As you'd expect, it's more songs to play along to.
Said songs are coming to us all the way from the wacky years that were the 1960's and 70's. Now -- and please don't hurt me for this -- I've never heard of "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," but I'm pretty sure everyone everywhere has heard of Barracudaaaaaaa and Space Oddity.
Each song will be available for $2.99 on PSN and Xbox LIVE for 240 Microsoft Points. You're buying all three songs, aren't you Barracuda?

It's been confirmed by Double Fine that the studio's new Kinect game Happy Action Theater will be appearing on Xbox Live Arcade on Wednesday, February 1 for 800 Microsoft Points.
Many of the best-made Kinect titles to date have been aimed primarily at younger audiences, but I'm not letting them have this one. It kindly allows up to six people to play through wacky scenarios without the logistical hassle of setting up individual controllers. Turn this sucker on and open the liquor cabinet.
Perhaps most important of all, Happy Action Theater lets you roll around in lava. Double Fine knows me better than I know myself.

As one of the founders of Apple, you might think that Steve Wozniak would be in love with the iPhone. If so, you might be shocked to learn that Woz also uses the Android-powered Motorola DROID RAZR, and that in his opinion, Android trumps iOS as an operating platform in a few different ways.

Surely by now, plenty of you have maxed out your level in Gears of War 3 -- it's what we do. The third add-on for the game, "Fenix Rising" (800 Microsoft Points), is here to extend your addiction. You'll have the option to reset your rank three separate times, rewarding you with colored wings and custom weapon skins.
Included in this pack are five maps -- Academy, Anvil, Depths, Escalation, and the Slab -- playable across Versus, Beast, and Horde modes. And keeping with the them, "Fenix Rising" has new character skins as well: Recruit Clayton, Thrashball Cole - Limited Edition, Savage Marauder, and Savage Kantus - LE.
I'm quite partial to that Savage Marauder, myself. Epic Games is still offering a Season Pass for 2400 MS Points, should you be tempted to download a few of these DLC packs for Gears 3.

As of today, trekking through the stars has become considerably cheaper, it's free actually. Cryptic Studios' Star Trek Online has officially shifted to a free-to-play model. You can download it now from Steam or STO's website and get started on your Starfleet career. Free players will get a pretty similar experience to their premium counterparts, with some of the limitations going away after playing the game for more than 20 hours. To see the full list of differences between account types go here.
I played STO a bit last year after initially being put off when I played the beta. The game had improved significantly, mainly thanks to the episodic content Cryptic added. These episodic missions were a lot more reminiscent of the TV series' and had the added bonus of a pretty unique reward at the end of the series. Cryptic also gave creative players the opportunity to make their own missions via The Foundry. Free players will not be able to construct their own adventures, but they will have access to other players' creations.

This is the end, my friends.
After the heart-breaking closure of Hudson Soft's North American division last year, tears were shed, but there was still hope that the properties that put the company on the map would live on in some form. This Japanese filing, however, states that whatever remains of Hudson will be absorbed into its parent company Konami on March 1. The Hudson name will subsequently be retired.
This past year, Hudson had been focused on mobile content, and the remaining teams will most likely continue this path under Konami. Does this mean that icons like Bomberman and Master Higgins are truly dead? After the recent cancellation of Hudson titles, the future was looking grim. Now it seems pretty clear. I just don't see Konami putting its resources into new ex-Hudson games when it can instead make fifty bazillion new Metal Gear collections, remakes, and spin-offs.
Long live the bee.

The first DLC for Saints Row: The Third has been released and this trailer was released with the express purpose of encouraging you to purchase the addition. GenkiBowl VII brings all new missions centered around the mad world of Professor Genki and his Genki Girls. You can grab it for $6.99 on Steam and PSN or 560 MS Points over on Xbox Live Marketplace.
Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax was far and away my favorite activity in Saints Row: The Third and I've gone back to it repeatedly after finishing the game just because I had so much fun maximizing my scores. Can't wait to strap it on again!

Even though everybody knows that The Old Republic cost a lot of money to make, most folks probably didn't think it was that expensive.
