NEWS - The biggest icon in wrestling history is going to be dropping the patented legdrop on you soon.
Hulk Hogan's Main Event is now available for pre-order at GameStop, promising a surprise if you drop in and put your five dollars down towards the upcoming Kinect title. The Kinect is starting to gain some steam with more than just niche titles, though looking up most of the information on this upcoming grappler, it seems like a personal challenge to truly master this one. More information will be coming out about the title, so be sure to prepare yourself for the 24" Pythons of Hulk Hogan, or you might find yourself counted out before it even begins.

Haunted Legends: The Bronze Horseman is the latest game from ERS Game Studios, and the sequel to Haunted Legends: The Queen of Spades. When the game opens you arrive in a small town that has been devastated by a flood and, to make matters even worse, the townspeople are being taken by the bronze horseman, who comes to judge the wicked. NEWS - Mortal Kombat is back.
The release of the fledgling fighting series earlier this year came with plenty of hype, and it didn't disappoint. Sales numbers have officially gone over the three million mark, which will certainly make NetherRealm Studios happy. It's still crazy to think that almost twenty years ago there was a heated debate as to which fighting game was better between Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter....then Mortal Kombat seemed to disappear altogether. Hopefully, with these solid sales numbers, we see more work from the revitalized series in 2012.

I wasn't expecting something scary when I heard that NanaOn-Sha, makers of PaRappa The Rapper, were making a Kinect title. You might expect something scary when you hear the name Haunt, but this game is closer to a virtual fun house than anything.
I got a chance to give this title a spin on the show floor of TGS, at Microsoft's booth. No one told me I would be running in place to move, or flailing my hands around to punch ghosts in the face. Add in the high humidity and the power saving measures going on in Japan, this wasn't my favorite demo experience today. I was sweating, but it wasn't from the scares.
It's not all bad, though. Haunt is a cute title that starts out on rails, with the player holding a virtual flashlight to shine in the face of ghosts and skeletons that pop out at you. It's a high-res funhouse. This being a Kinect title, you can bet there's plenty of ducking under things that pop out, or jumping over things that block your progress.
Later the game opens up to let you explore a seemingly endless series of haunted hallways and rooms. In these bits you'll walk in place to progress down corridors, and the direction you point your flashlight guides your movement. Movement is a bit clunky and slow, and you look like an idiot marching in place, but it works. In one corridor a huge eye in a doorway watched on. I had to freeze my movement when his eye was open, and then run as fast as I could to progress while it was closed.

Occasionally a ghost or other ghoul would pop up and block progress. I had to battle them by doing very Kinect-y things like deflecting attack orbs by swatting my hands at them, or punching ghosts with my fists. Detection of these movements was painfully slow, and not always accurate, though the busy TGS show floor could have been part of the cause.

Haunt isn't going to blow your socks off. It's more cute and silly than anything. It didn't exactly win me over, but the fun atmosphere and voice work by Tim Schafer made it enjoyable.
As of now there's no word on a US release for Haunt. Japan is still holding on a release date.

Get your serious face on for the 3DS Slide Pad. Get all mad and serious.
I actually wasn't mad when I walked up to the lovely Capcom attendant at their TGS booth today. She handed me the Slide Pad to feel for myself. Know that it's not as bad as some of you all are making it out to be. Sure, it's big and ugly, and you need to stick a battery in it like it's 1986, but it feels good in the hand, and it's not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be.
The good: There's a curved back that gives it a really nice hand feel. The L and R buttons are a bit chunky, but they also have nice movement. You can easily pop the 3DS in and out of the unit, and the original L and R are still accessible. Again, it's light and comfortable.
The hmm: The new circle pad feels a bit out there. It just feels like your world is off center when you hold it with your thumbs on both pads. The other big thing is that it's...well, big. You won't be putting your 3DS in your pocket with the Slide Pad equipped unless we go back to the fashion of 1986 where urban folks were wearing overalls.
We'll see how well this 1,500¥ (roughly $20 US) add-on goes over in the coming year.

RuneScape was always a game that I heard loads about, but never actually got into myself. The early 2000s were a time before I truly got to discover the wondrous medium that was PC gaming. Also being poor and not actually being able to have a good machine kinda helped that too. Luckily though, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of RuneScape, Jagex is opening RuneScape Classic for one last time!
The game will be open until Thursday, September 26th for new players to join up and see what the game was like. If you're at all interested in staying on the bandwagon after this, logging on to the original will unlock the Classic Cape and Classic Hood items in RunScape 2, bestowing upon your character the unique "Skillcape" emote.
Daniel Clough, VP of RuneScape, commented “The past 10 years have seen RuneScape grow and develop at a phenomenal rate and today’s game is testament to the continued content, graphical and technological updates. Taking a trip back to Classic is gives our longest standing players a chance to reminisce and newer players a chance to see where their game has come from.”
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like going back and taking a firsthand look at this piece of videogame history. It still remains the most popular free-to-play MMO. You can check it out on the official website, or if you prefer to watch from afar, feel free to peruse the screenshots released to celebrate the occasion below.

Rounding out the Dark Souls prologue series is the final clip, though for the sake of convenience, Namco Bandai has simply thrown them all together into one video. Enjoy, if you haven't imposed a media blackout on yourself.
For everyone else who can't get enough, do check out Allistair's coverage of the first thirty minutes of Dark Souls from Tokyo Game Show.

NEWS - Let's face it: Everyone has, at one point in time, wanted to be a ninja. Now, with the Playstation Vita coming up, Namco Bandai is going to let gamers enjoy that feeling with the release of Shinobido 2: Tales of the Ninja. While the title is not finalized, it's clear what the sequel is going to cover. Promising a deeper storyline, the Vita seems to be getting a hard hitting title, and it couldn't come at a better time. Vita support seems to be marginal, depending on who you ask. Considering that the launch is still several months away, though a recent Washington Post news clip suggests that a December 31 release is entirely possible. Of course, this is in reference to Gamestop and Amazon listing that as the release date, which is probably wishful thinking.
At least there will be ninjas when the Vita comes out.

NEWS - Namco Bandai is making up for some lost time with the Ace Combat series.
With Assault Horizon coming up in just a few weeks, you would think that they would be making fans of the series happy enough to keep them occupied. However, Namco Bandai is stepping it up beyond consoles by giving us the first real taste of 3D flight simulation with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy. This is not the first Ace Combat title to grace handhelds, though the PSP had the best one thus far with Skies of Deception. While 3D gaming is something of a niche market for the time being, I'm excited to see how well the Ace Combat series does in a 3D handheld environment. The 3DS needs a more diverse range of titles, and Ace Combat is going to help that.
