NEWS - Armchair jet jockeys that have been eagerly waiting for the next installment of the Ace Combat series will not have to wait much longer. The demo of Namco Bandai's upcoming title, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, dropped on XBLA and PSN today. With the last console release of an Ace Combat game almost five years ago, fans of the series wondered just how long they truly would wait to get their fix. While Fires of Liberation did very well as an Xbox 360 exclusive, Namco Bandai has opened things up and included PS3 gamers with this installment, which is looking to be one of the best yet.

NEWS - Most soundtracks in games are made one of two ways: Either you go with a soundtrack from bands that are incredibly popular or they are kept in-house and designed by composers themselves. It looks like EA Sports is going to buck the trend and go with a very diverse group of artists for their soundtrack. Boasting 39 artists from 15 different countries, many fans of FIFA 12 are going to be exposed to plenty of music they have never heard of. Soccer is the world's beautiful game, and they are keeping it that way by including music from all around the world.

NEWS - iOS games continue to grow in popularity. While I disagree that they will forever replace consoles or PC gaming, it's impossible to believe that they aren't here to stay. Games on the go have become a big portion of entertainment nowadays, and with the recent launch of Jetpack Joyride hitting 350,000 downloads, it's talk of yet another handheld game exploding with popularity. To build upon this, the first update became available that adds in new content, as you can read below. So keep on downloading those iOS games, because it makes developers want to improve upon them!

Add to myYahoo!Despite Nintendo downplaying the Circle Pad expansion at its press conference, details of its existence emerged shortly after the media briefing with support from third-party developers. Excited about Monster Hunter 4? Since I'm typing this in English, I'm guessing that your answer is probably "no". Excited about a game where you run across huge fields, platform across ancient ruins, escape the wrath of a bloodthirsty hippo-sized dino-dragon, only to climb a cliff wall to be faced with an even larger fire breathing bat-winged lizard, with your survival dependent on your ability to turn the two angry reptiles against each other? Then maybe you'll end up loving Monster Hunter 4 after all.
Personally, my favorite part is when the hunter jumps on the pursuing beast's back, grabs on with one hand, and furiously stabs into its spine with the other. The whole show is very Shadows of the Colossus. That's rarely a bad thing.
This game has only been announced for the 3DS so far, and honestly, I don't imagine that Capcom will spend the additional funds to make it look any better if it does come to other consoles. Frankly, they just don't have to. The game will sell exceptionally well no matter how it looks.
For better or worse, I think this is our Monster Hunter 4. Personally, I can't wait to play it (single nub style because F*ck that Nubageddon sh*t homey).

[Backlog is the ongoing quest to rid Conrad Zimmerman's collection of unfinished games. As voted on by the Destructoid community, Conrad plays each game from start to finish live on Destructoid's Twitch.tv channel every weeknight at 8pm Pacific]
Travis Touchdown is moving swiftly through the ranks of assassins, though it's easier when nearly half your competition is a cheerleading squad. We've been playing No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle on the show this week, slashing up anything that moves and transforming into a tiger whenever possible. I swear, there is no limit to the extent Suda can present an appearance of being odd.
Tune in for more bizarre encounters and exotic cutscenes. I'll be playing live and hanging out with the goons in our live chat over on Destructoid's Twitch.tv channel! Come join the fun!

Add to myYahoo!Square Enix announced a new traditional RPG coming to the Nintendo 3DS called Bravely Default Flying Fairy. Upon first glance at the trailer, you may note its remarkably similar to Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light. The art director Akihiko Yoshida is now doing artwork for the game. Microsoft confirmed today that Xbox Live will be incorporated into Windows 8 as part of the company's vision for easy-to-access, unified entertainment. "Xbox Live brings your games, music, movies, and TV shows to your favorite Microsoft and Windows devices," writes Major Nelson.
Visually, it looks like the impending Xbox 360 dashboard refresh, which we recently previewed. I still don't know what to think about Live on PC, especially after Games for Windows Live was rolled into Xbox.com as a subcategory.
If consumers end up getting, say, Xbox Live Arcade games (particularly those published by Microsoft) on PC that wouldn't be available otherwise, then that'd be swell.

Frozenbyte is offering us a different style of trailer today, one you rarely ever see. Instead of opting to focus on straight footage or cinematics, this video shows some of the locales found in Trine 2.
And that's all. Apparently, the artists of Trine 2 are finished working on the game, resulting in this video. Not every component is done, however. The finished product is still a few months away, with Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvärinen saying "Ultimately we decided that we don't want to rush things."

In the 80's, the idea of street punks with poofy hair was really big in Japan. It was that concept that spawned that Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun (known as Renegade in the states), and its sequel, River City Rampage. In Japan, many more games in series were released in the seires, though here in the states we only got a few of the sports titles (like Crash and the Boys and Super Dodgeball) and the GBA remake of River City Ransom.
I'm holding out hope that we'll get this 25th anniversary Kunio Kun game here in the states. You can't exactly tell from this teaser video, but the game looks great, 100% true to the original NES games, combining the all the art styles of the various I titles into one release. Loyal fans of River City Rampage will want to watch the trailer anyway, as it ends with a song that any fan of Merv Burger is sure to appreciate.
I attached some screens, so if you want a better look what could be my favorite upcoming 3DS title, then barf it up!
