Nintendo DLC: Zen Pinball 3D, Hip Hop King, and
more

Nintendo DLC: Zen Pinball 3D, Hip Hop King, and more screenshot

Well, this is awkward. Today marks the arrival of Zen Pinball 3D ($6.99) on the North American eShop -- which is great, don't get me wrong -- but it's also the debut of 101 Pinball World ($4.99) on DSiWare. How does that even happen? It's probably for the best that we don't fully know.

DSiWare is also getting the music creation app Hip Hop King: Rytmik Edition ($7.99). On WiiWare, the new game is, no joke, Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Case of the Crumbling Cathedral (600 Wii Points). I want to shake the hand of whoever came up with the title.

Finally, 3DS owners can grab part one of Kirby! Right Back At Ya! for free. Crazy times we live in.

New NeverDead screens show more decapitation

New NeverDead screens show more decapitation screenshot

Konami's upcoming action game in which you play as an immortal demon hunter on present-day Earth who is unfazed by his own body parts being blown about -- yes, I'm talking about NeverDead -- still looks as though its January 31 release date will be happening.

When word came out of the game's official release date, we got some screenshots, so now Konami is pushing out more images because, well, why not? It all still looks as wacky and out-there as it did when it was first announced way back at E3 2010, but we'll have to wait and see if the game itself is fun to play.

The team behind Torchlight opposes SOPA

The team behind Torchlight opposes SOPA screenshot

Runic Games, the studio that gave us that bundle of action-RPG fun that was Torchlight, has today let its forum users know the company's official stance on SOPA, something that not a lot of game companies have been brave enough to do.

"The question has been asked regarding our company's official position on the current SOPA/PIPA debate in Congress," began Runic Games' response to a forum topic asking for the company's take on SOPA. "It is clear that the scope of the proposed legislation would give unnecessarily broad power to large corporations while reducing the rights of individual citizens -- and it won't even stop software piracy."

And then those magic words: "We at Runic Games oppose the SOPA/PIPA legislation and we encourage you to do the same." Just the other day, the people behind League of Legends spoke out against SOPA, and will even be taking the time to raise awareness. Let's see if this gives other studios the courage to also speak out.

The DTOID Show wants to know your 2012 gaming
resolutions

The DTOID Show wants to know your 2012 gaming resolutions screenshot

Hello my darlings! This Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the Revision3 studio will be closed in observance of the holiday, so we're shooting an extra episode tomorrow. Since 2012 is still wet behind the ears, and since we haven't addressed it yet, Tara and I figured we'd talk about our New Year's resolutions of gaming. More importantly, we wanted to reach out to you guys and find out what you're promising yourselves you will or won't do this year.

What is YOUR New Year's resolution, in terms of gaming?

Maybe you wanna finish more games, or get into a genre you've never given a chance. Maybe you've vowed to stop making "arrow to the knee" jokes. Let us know in the comments, and we'll read a few on Monday's show! And I swear, if you make a "resolution" joke involving the display settings of your PC monitor or television screen, I will mail you a box of dead rats and broken glass.

(Y'know, unless your New Year's resolution is actually to get a bigger monitor, or something.)

Video of the ME3 and Reckoning demo item unlocks

Video of the ME3 and Reckoning demo item unlocks screenshot

Yesterday we detailed what you'd be getting if you play the Mass Effect 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demos. Well today Electronic Arts has released a little video showing off how the special items look in action.

The Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo will be out on January 17 and the Mass Effect 3 demo will be out later this month. You can check out the full breakdown of item unlocks below.

Well fancy that. You're going to get free items for playing free demos. I hope this becomes a bigger trend.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo item unlocks for Mass Effect 3:

  • Reckoner Knight Armor: This armor will maximize damage done in close-quarters combat while a beefed–up power cell feeds energy into weapon systems to increase projectile velocity.
  • The Chakram Launcher: This weapon uses a fabricator to manufacture lightweight, explosive ammunition discs. This weapon is earned after completing the Reckoning demo and watching the trailer at the end.

Mass Effect 3 demo item unlocks for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning:

  • N7 Armor: Players can unlock special armor inspired by Commander Shepard’s iconic N7 battle armor including Helm, Cuirass, Gauntlets, Chausses and Greaves.
  • Onmiblade Daggers: A holographic blade stemming from Commander Shepard’s Omni-Tool, the Omni-blade allows players to stab enemies in close combat. Once players install and play the Mass Effect 3 demo, they will unlock the daggers.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo item unlocks for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning:

  • Twist of Fate Card: This card boosts the player’s ice resistance and is immediately unlocked when he or she activates the Reckoning demo using his or her Origin account.
  • Twinned Souls Chakram: A unique weapon that damages enemies while boosting player health and mana in Reckoning.
  • The Infernal Helm: Unlocked after completing the Reckoning Tutorial Mode, this protective helmet increases players’ fire damage throughout Amalur.
