Final Fantasy XIII gets another gorgeous TV spot screenshot

I swear, Square Enix's insanely huge promotion and lengthy promotion for Final Fantasy XIII is just making the wait seem even longer than it actually is. Still, when the promotion is this gorgeous, who am I to complain? Check out the latest video -- it's thirty seconds of pure distilled eye candy.

Every time I see this game moving in HD I am taken aback. Some people have been pretty "meh" about the graphics, but I've no idea how they can be. Looks amazing to me! Ah well, whatever. The game is out in North America early next year while Japanese folk get to play the game in just a matter of days.

Lucky bastards.

Combat options -- Dark Void has them. In yet another new video series, the Capcom crew shows off what the jetpack-strapped protagonist can choose to do when confronted with a massive Archon walker. In this specific case, the video presents two options: (1) junk up its obvious weak spots with basic aerial attacks or (2) blast them with the pew-pew might of a hijacked UFO. The choice seems clear, right?

Perhaps. But the on-foot -- that is to say, the on-air -- approach seems to hover more on the satisfying side. After crippling the Archon, people can get all God of War on it, tapping out QTEs while charging up the metallic spine. The climax to the events is pulling out the Archon’s squishy pilot and giving him a violent equivalent of the finger. Neat.

God of War III is 'complete'

God of War III is 'complete' screenshot

One of the biggest games of 2010, God of War III, has been deemed "complete" by Sony director John Hight. Kratos' next big adventure has entered the beta testing phase, where the Ghost of Sparta is to be put through rigorous quality assurance.

"We just made beta with the game so we're doing a lot of play-testing, tuning the game to make sure that it's fun, got the right level of complexity and of course optimised so that it runs super-smooth," confirms Hight. "The entire game is complete -- we're not adding anything to it."

Barring any unforeseen problems, God of War III is still ready to hit the PS3 in March of next year. Should be a nice early big'un for Sony, and one can expect it to rival even Uncharted 2 in terms of massively positive reviews. PS3 fanboys will still find a reason to complain though, I'm sure.
