Second helping of Brütal Legend DLC announced

NEWS - Apparently, one wasn’t enough for Brütal Legend, as Double Fine and EA announced the second helping of DLC for the game. I’m not sure how many people care at this point (and based on October sales numbers, it may be less than 500K…total), as the game was well-received, but disappointed in opening month sales (17 days worth) with around 260k combined units. With a bevy of string franchises dropping in November, the number may not improve much despite a full month of sales.

“The Hammer of Infinite Fate” DLC (480 MS points or $4.99) will add new skins, weapon upgrades, maps and unlockable achievements starting on December 17th. Neither this pack, nor the map expansion “Tears of the Hextadon” are “Something awesome” as Tim Schaefer promised VG247 earlier this year. In fact, they seem like your general run-of-the-mill money makers. Not sure if Schafer has something else up his sleeve for the game, but when November sales numbers come out, that may provide a more clear picture of whether it is time for Double Fine and EA to throw in the towel on the game from a financial perspective.

D.I.C.E. Summit 2010 announces initial speakers

NEWS - The D.I.C.E. Summit every year gets some of the top people in the video game industry together to talk about the hot topics and future of the industry. The initial batch of speakers announced for the 2010 event has it already shaping up as an intriguing panel, with players representing some of the most popular casual and retail games on the market. The annual event is held in Las Vegas in February and is sure to draw an even stronger crowd of speakers by the time it actually kicks off. In the meantime, check out the list after the jump:

Serious Sam HD on XBLA getting an early 2010
release

After a slight delay, we now have the precise date for Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter's Xbox LIVE Arcade arrival. January 13 has been pinned down as the debut, a day which will surely be full of shooting everything that moves and then firing off into the sky while screaming to declare glorious victory.

It's got four-person online co-op and costs 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) -- did we already know that? I was distracted by Sam's ripped sleeve and completely forgot.

When it comes to Serious Sam anything, the consensus tends to be "play it on a PC or die" due to the fast-paced nature of these games. I tend to agree, but hell, if you've been doing it up console-style for shooters these past few years, you're so used to using sticks that it likely won't even matter.

Plus, you can pretty much just fire like an absolute madman and still win at the game. Who needs precision when you have Sam's weapon cache?

Watch a mad Christian evangelist rant about
Pokemon

Remember that whole, "Pokemon is evil" fad that was popular among Christian extremists in the nineties? Ever seen a religious leader seriously ramble about the demonic influence of the Japanese game with a straight face? No? Well today is your lucky day, son! Watch this mental evengelist talk about kids "taking control of spirits in the dark realm" and decry the "reclusive power-filled monsters."

I always find it funny when religious extremists rail against popular culture. Ever notice how they only do it when something threatens to be more popular than they are? Pokemon, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, basically anything that might hold a kid's attention longer than a Bible is suddenly declared evil, and the declarations stop once the fad passes and the Satanic item in question isn't popular anymore. And here I thought envy was supposed to be a sin.

In any case, this is a hilarious video, whatever your belief system. From the way this guy keeps a straight face while talking about Pokemon's witchcraft, to the gullible morons in the audience who don't know what the Hell he's talking about, but know they hate it, whatever it is. 

Also, lovely bit of editing at the end. Don't think, indeed.
