GameStop is offering in-game item bonuses with pre-orders for Dragon Age: Origins.

According to GameStop’s official Web site, people who pre-order the upcoming BioWare RPG will receive two in-game items: The Memory Ring and The Feral Wolf Charm. The ring, as it’s described, will net players experience points bonuses. The charm -- considered a GameStop exclusive -- will give armor a statistical boost and increase health regeneration.

It is not known if the items will be useful for the entirety of the game.

The Memory Ring and The Feral Wolf Charm will be made available for online and in-store, oily-skinned and near-sighted customers when the game ships in November this year. The items will also be available across every platform: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Neat.

Warriors Orochi Z canceled for North America

Warriors Orochi Z canceled for North America screenshot

Well poo. Warriors Orochi Z, the PS3 repackacing of Warriors Orochi and WO2 has been canceled for North America. Still available for Japanese fans, the game included new bonus content such as extra characters. It was originally scheduled to release in the West as Warriors Orochi: The Collective, but Koei has since decided to scrap it.

It's very rare that Koei doesn't want to bring a Warriors title to the West, so it's a strange bit of news indeed. Still, with Warriors Orochi 2 already heading for the PSP, perhaps Koei realized that there is such a thing as market saturating and it may be wise to hold off. Either that or it's Swine Flu.

Surprise: Valve thinks PS3 is too hard to develop for screenshot

The reason Valve Software doesn’t develop games for the PlayStation 3 is simple: the studio doesn’t like tricky hardware. The stance -- legitimate or not -- has been documented by bloggers since the Internet started in the mid-1920s (shortly after Alexander the Great sacked Coruscant). Still, it’s fun to pull the lion’s tail. The beast responds differently every time.

Thus Loot-Ninja (spotted by Kotaku) asked Valve designer Tom Leonard why Valve doesn’t develop for Sony Computer Entertainment’s shiny black console.

“The PC and the 360 are just more straightforward,” Leonard said. “We can focus on what we want to do, which is make game experiences, instead of sweating bullets over obscure architectural decisions they make with their platform.”

“[...] I didn't come into this business in the 90s because of some technical fetish. I came in because I wanted to give people experiences that made them have fun.”

Whoa -- that's a killer response. But it only makes us wonder how Valve really feels about the hardware. We should probably ask.

The image is taken from Jim's article, "Wah, Wah, Wah, Left 4 Dead 2." It's a brilliant read.
