Prague-based Warhorse Studios has reached a licensing deal with Crytek to use CryENGINE 3 for the company's unannounced open-world RPG. Big deal, who cares. Right? Wrong!
Before you write this news off, let me first point you to the team's website. Look at that badass image on the landing page. You might also like to know that Warhorse is made up of industry members who have worked on games like Mafia, Operation Flashpoint, and UFO: Aftershock.
"Even if our new project is different in many respects, it is a game that is not going to disappoint fans of open realistic worlds and quality stories," reads the website. "We are positive we are not making this game for ourselves only but for you as well."

If you've managed to avoid ACE Team's Zeno Clash all these years, you'll have yet another chance to grab the bizarre game for cheap. It's part of Indie Royale's Valentine's Bundle, available now via download.
Other games in this line-up include Hoard (plus two add-on packs), Lume, Soulcaster, and Soulcaster II. Purchasers who pay beyond the minimum contribution amount also get One Life Left's Music To Play Games By Too as a bonus.
I wasn't previously familiar with the Soulcaster series, but it sounds like an intriguing mash-up of defensive gameplay and dungeon crawling. Be still, my heart!

Valve's Gabe Newell has issued another letter to all Steam users, but if you're like me, you don't leave the program running constantly so that some work can get done. This is a follow-up to the company finding out that intruders had accessed a Steam database.
"Recently we learned that it is probable that the intruders obtained a copy of a backup file with information about Steam transactions between 2004 and 2008," writes Newell. "This backup file contained user names, email addresses, encrypted billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. It did not include Steam passwords."
"We do not have any evidence that the encrypted credit card numbers or billing addresses have been compromised. However as I said in November it's a good idea to watch your credit card activity and statements. And of course keeping Steam Guard on is a good idea as well."
Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users
We continue our investigation of last year's intrusion with the help of outside security experts. In my last note about this, I described how intruders had accessed our Steam database but we found no evidence that the intruders took information from that database. That is still the case.
Recently we learned that it is probable that the intruders obtained a copy of a backup file with information about Steam transactions between 2004 and 2008. This backup file contained user names, email addresses, encrypted billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. It did not include Steam passwords.
We do not have any evidence that the encrypted credit card numbers or billing addresses have been compromised. However as I said in November it's a good idea to watch your credit card activity and statements. And of course keeping Steam Guard on is a good idea as well.
We are still investigating and working with law enforcement authorities. Some state laws require a more formal notice of this incident so some of you will get that notice, but we wanted to update everyone with this new information now.
Gabe

I'm only now working my way through the Mass Effect series in preparation for its conclusion, but it's good to know that there are some exciting things to look forward to. In this latest trailer for Mass Effect 3, we have the female version of Shepard getting the rundown on how much of a badass she is. And then, explosions!
This is some seriously hype-inducing stuff. I feel as though the fate of the universe rests in the hands of that cunning femme fatale. And that means it rests in my hands. There's nothing like a good power trip.

This weekend, Destructoid's Twitch TV channel just keeps getting bigger and better. Streaming right now is our new UK broadcaster, Spamfish. This is the end of an amazing first week for him, and he makes a sweet addition to the lineup. You can catch Spamfish and the Melted Fridge Show every weekday from 6pm-Midnight GMT.
After Melted Fridge today, Mash Tactics is going into a very special 'Community Collaboration' with King Foom being interviewed by me. Saturday packs a punch with Shank 2 on Hangover, and Stubbs the Zombie on Chill with Phil. And episode 2 of Sup Holmes brings on the sensational Shannon from Nintendo and Tommy Refenes from Team Meat, this Sunday at 1p.m. Pacific.

This week ends with another 'Community Collaboration' on Mash Tactics. Though, this time, Foom is doing something a bit different. I, as host of Also Talks, will be joining Foom to interview him about his journey on Twitch TV, experiences with Destructoid, and goals for the channel and community. After the chat, Foom will be bringing on some old school Chill Bros to play Red Dead Redemption and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

Saturday Morning Hangover with Conrad Zimmerman and Jordan Devore airs from 10a.m. to 12p.m. PST. Come watch as they play the latest Xbox Live Indie Games demos for your enjoyment, and revel in the beauty of Conrad's mustache! This week, the guys will being leaping into Shank 2 in the latter half of the show.

Chill with Phil airs this Saturday at 4p.m. PST. Coming off his series playthrough of Metal Gear Solid, and considering his next epic endeavor, Philanthr0py is going to be taking it easy with a personal favorite, Stubbs the Zombie.

321Go Cast is Destructoid's only live show/podcast hybrid airing on Sunday, from 2-4p.m. PST starring JohnnyViral, Pangloss, and Ryu89. This week, the guys are joined again by their trusty stream host Sterling Lyons.

Destructoid's live talk show, Also, Talks, starring Bill Zoeker and Johnny Luchador is committed to bringing interesting conversations about videogames, Destructoid, and random nonsense on Sundays at 4p.m. PST. It seems the guys will be playing some sort of videogame once again. This has become a mysterious trend. Tune in to get some answers.
Catch all of Destructoid's livestream shows at Twitch.TV/Destructoid!
