NEWS - It’s rare that you’ll get a press release from developers announcing their less than impressive stats. iLikeCereal!!, however, is not afraid to admit the “not-so-epic” sales they have made. In fact, the figures are at 26 copies.
iLikeCereal!!, an app at the Apple App Store, is a breakfast simulator where playing with your food is not only acceptable, but it’s encouraged too. You can litter your milky screen with as many shapes and clusters of cereal as you like, and swish them around as you please. I’m not sure that at $1.99 the app would be appealing to iPhone/iPod Touch gamers, but we hear the soundtrack is decent. You can check for yourself in their trailer below.
I have to give the guys at MEE credit, though, as it was one of the most entertaining press releases I’ve read. Read on for the full details of their misery, and the unfortunate hilarity that we can all enjoy at their expense.

If you've logged into Steam in the last few hours, you might have noticed you have a new game you don't remember buying. Assuming you're not a compulsive drunk game purchaser, what you're seeing is the free weekend Valve is having for Dreamkiller.
I haven't played the game yet, so I can't really tell you about it. Here's an old trailer and some screenshots. If it looks even remotely interesting, you should download it and then tell us about it in the comments. System requirements are reasonably low, so a lot of people should be able to grab it. If it ends up not working for you, hey, at least it was free!

NEWS - Metacritic put out a detailed feature of best gaming platforms, determined by quality and quantity of the titles released for the respective platforms.
The consensus is that the PlayStation 3, putting out 228 titles with 43% of them rated with good reviews, was the top platform for 2009. The 360 was awarded a higher number of positive reviews on their titles, and the Wii was awarded the highest number of releases for 2009. The PS3, however, takes the cake with an overall higher score.
Some of the highest ranked games, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves being the prime example, were also PS3 dedicated. The list of best-reviewed games for 2009 across platforms on Metacritic goes as follows:
1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
3. Street Fighter IV (PS3)
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)
5. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS)
6. Braid (PS3)
7. Street Fighter IV (360)
8. God of War Collection (PS3)
9. Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)
10. Forza Motorsport 3 (360)
The list is not too surprising for 2009. Note the repeats for Call of Duty MW2 and Street Fighter IV.
Read the rest of the feature for some insight into some of the best reviewed, and most popular genres per platform juxtaposed with some pretty looking charts.

NEWS - I’d like to start this news announcement with a big /SIGH. THQ*ICE announced an event in conjunction with Dragonica Online that basically bribes you to market for them.
I did the whole MMO thing or, rather, am still weaning myself off of it. Scavenging for items always becomes a huge and prominent ordeal for your typical run-of-the-mill MMORPG. I guess THQ*ICE – like many of the MMO developers out there – realized our weakness for items and set forth plans to reap the benefits of teasing us all with them.
Until January 11th, you can gain access to a web address to give out to your friends so that they can register themselves for a THQ*ICE Passport for free. In exchange, you, the advertiser hired for in-game items, can have a chance to receive three Essences of Friendship and one permanent Magic Academy Uniform Package. The prizes you win depend on how many people you have invited, and how many of them have reached a certain level in the game. Your friends who you have invited will also get prices once they hit level 8.
As a WoW player I had my days of: “Zebra mount?! LET’S GET YOU SIGNED UP, FRIEND.” Really, it’s no skin off your back – but I can’t help thinking I’ve sold my soul in exchange for a mount I never needed.
