The DTOID Show: CES preview with Anthony Carboni!

The DTOID Show: CES preview with Anthony Carboni! screenshot

It's Friday afternoon here at The Destructoid Show, and that can only mean two things: gallons of booze and a smattering of news! Preferably in that order. With emphasis on the former.

On today's show, Max talks about SWTOR's latest controversy and gives some details on the new turn-based XCOM: Enemy Unknown, while I congratulate Steam on their seven long years of success and then take it upon myself to rage against entitled gamers who think their opinions are the only right ones. It's tough work, but it needs to be done. Later in the show, we welcome New Challenger's Anthony Carboni on to talk about his predictions for next week's Consumer Electronics Show, but not before Max declares his undying love for tits, effectively depleting every last trace of dignity left in our show. Now there's an accomplishment to be proud of!

Firefall now has its own official cosplay team

Firefall now has its own official cosplay team screenshot

You might have heard of Firefall, Red 5 Studios' upcoming Free-to-Play FPS, but what you might not have heard of is that said studio has gone off and cast an official cosplay team made up of Lee Reherman (maybe you've seen him as "Hawk" on American Gladiators?) who's going to be dressing up as "Typhon" and Crystal Graziano who's, um, pretty and will be walking around as "Mourningstar."

Both will be accompanying Red 5 to future events throughout 2012, wearing costumes crafted by Steve Wang and his team. It's hard to deny that the costumes themselves are nicely done, but am I the only one who thinks that this is a little too much? Not so much the fact that they've created THAT, but really the huge deal Red 5 seem to be making over it.

Have a look at the two videos Red 5 have released showing the effort that went into making these things. But whatever you do, don't try to screw around with Lee while visiting a Firefall booth -- you know, pulling funny faces or calling him names -- because he will knock you the hell out.

Prototype 2 GameStop pre-orders get 'Butt Kicker'
power

Prototype 2 GameStop pre-orders get 'Butt Kicker' power screenshot

Radical Entertainment announced today a pre-order bonus for Prototype 2, available to customers who lay down their cash in advance at GameStop. In exchange for your consumer confidence, you'll get a code to unlock the "Butt Kicker" power, an enhancement of the Bio-Bomb ability. Where the Bio-Bomb merely lets you throw an enemy which you have pumped full of explosive goodness, the Butt Kicker allows you to punt that enemy and rain devastation on your enemies.

I liked Prototype quite a bit. Some parts felt a little cookie-cutter and I can't say that I developed any significant attachment to Alex Mercer or the devastated Manhattan he conquered, but it was fun for what it was and had some really interesting ideas. So while I'm not chomping at the bit for more, it's certainly welcome.

Thousands show support for a PC version of Dark
Souls

Thousands show support for a PC version of Dark Souls screenshot

Fans of Dark Souls have flocked to publisher Namco Bandai's forums to express interest in a PC version of the game, resulting in a staff member saying that demand for such an undertaking needs to be proven. The company later expressed to Rock, Paper, Shotgun that this is only a "rumor," though no comment was given either way on whether or not a port is a possibility.

Rest assured, this is the Internet, and we aren't about to leave it at that. Show your support for the movement by signing a petition. At the time of writing, it has garnered 13,000 signatures.

The harsh-but-fair design, bleak world, and sense of fearful exploration have me convinced Dark Souls would be an ideal fit for PCs. This is the type of game that demands to be played in a dim room with your face mere inches away from the warm glow of your monitor.

I have a hard time believing a halfway decent port wouldn't thrive on Steam. Get Blighttown running smoothly, and you've got my money again, Namco.

Live show: Mash Tactics has SoulCalibur V this
Monday!

Live show: Mash Tactics has SoulCalibur V this Monday! screenshot

We at Destructoid's Twitch TV channel would like to make you aware that Mash Tactics is bringing you some live gameplay of SoulCalibur V three weeks early! Namco Bandai's latest addition to the popular fighting game series isn't set to release in North America until January 31st, but we're bringing it to you this Monday, January 9th.

SoulCalibur may not be as technical as some other fighting games, but it is bursting with features that hook players with each new edition. Gamers have spent hours with SoulCalibur's extensive character creation feature, and have been delighted to play as cameo characters crossed over from other franchises. SoulCalibur V carries on the latter tradition with the somewhat surprising inclusion of Ezio Auditore da Firenze from the Assassin's Creed franchise.

It's always a goal of Mash Tactics to bring the Destructoid and Twitch TV communities exclusive events like this. Tune in this Monday at 4pm Pacific for this amazing early look at the much anticipated slugfest.

Hangover is playing some Oddworld, Chill with Phil is kicking off Snake Eater, and Kingdom of Foom is going head-to-head for a crossover clash. Foom is going to take on fighting game veterans Team Sp00ky in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Today at 4pm Pacific, Jon Carnage and Wesley Ruscher will be jumping from game to game at the viewers' request on Mash Tactics, starting with the new King of Fighters XIII. There will surely be multiplayer; so fire up those consoles, and jump online to play with the hosts.

At 7pm Pacific this evening, Kingdom of Foom is taking all challengers in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The fighting game enthusiasts and iPLAYWINNER members of Team Sp00ky are expected to stop by and school Foom in the ways of the digital fist.

Saturday Morning Hangover with Conrad Zimmerman and Jordan Devore airs from 10:00am to 12:00pm Pacific. Come watch as they play the latest Xbox Live Indie Games demos for your enjoyment, and revel in the beauty of Conrad's mustache! This week, Conrad and Jordan will be playing Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD for the palette-cleansing portion of the show.

Chill With Phil will be on this Saturday at 4pm Pacific, continuing the arduous task of playing through all of the Metal Gear Solid titles. With Sons of Liberty finally put to rest, Phil is starting one of the most revered MGS titles, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from the MGS HD Collection.

321Go Cast is Destructoid's only live show/podcast hybrid airing on Sunday, from 2:00-4:00pm Pacific starring JohnnyViral, Jesse Cortez, Pangloss, and Ryu89.

Destructoid's live community talk show, Also, Talks, starring Bill Zoeker and Johnny Luchador is committed to bringing interesting conversations about videogames, Destructoid, and random nonsense on Sunday at 4:00pm Pacific.
