Atlus says it's going to be OK after merger

NEWS - If you were concerned that Atlus was going to be gutted when the company was dissolved last week, you may have nothing to worry about, at least according to this official statement the company which was released on Friday

"The Atlus-Index merger allows us to achieve greater synergy among the Index group companies and further strengthens the foundation of Atlus, both in Japan and here in the United States."

I hope that this is true but I worry when cool, but quirky companies like Atlus go through massive transitions as what make the company special is lost in the shuffle (usually when the word "synergy" is involved).  Hopefully they leave Atlus alone so they can continue producing great, but odd RPG's and other cool games.

Vanquish gets a story trailer

NEWS - Here's the story trailer for Vanquish and honestly I'm not sure what's going on other than aliens blowing up San Fransisco, threatening New York, and stuff being up.  Don't believe me, check it out yourself:

While the plot isn't that clear what is clear is that Sega is going to have a hit if the full version of the game is as good as the demo they released last week (seriously if you like action shooters download and play it as it's available on both the Xbox 360 and PS3).  Jeremy raved to me about it last week and after playing it I can see why he was so excited.  If you've played the demo yourself let us know what you think in the comments.

one week, proceeds to go to charity

NEWS - Telltale games is giving gamers the opportunity to score some great adventure games for cheap and help charity at the same time.  For one week starting on September 3rd you can purchase the following games for $19.95 with the proceeds being split between Child's Play, the WWF, EEF, Nyota e.V, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  For your money you get digital copies of:

First Dungeon Siege III gameplay footage released

NEWS - Square Enix has released the first gameplay footage from Dungeon Siege III and as you would expect from the series it's very pretty.  This iteration of the series is unique for two reasons, the first is that Dungeon Siege III is being developed by Obsidian Games with some help with Gas Powered Games (the creators of the franchise) and this will be the first version of the game to be released on consoles.

The series is known for it's graphical fidelity and the trailer seems to indicate that this one won't be lacking in the graphics department.  I am interested to see how they adjust the very keyboard/mouse centric control was so core to the first two games.
