NEWS - It's not all about Duke today as Sony announced officially that Killzone 3 will hit the store shelves on February 22, 2011. Killzone 2 was one of the biggest hits on the PlayStation 3 platforms and there's little doubt that the third game will also be a big seller for them. I haven't seen that much of the game in motion yet but I'll definitely check this one out when the time comes.

Add to myYahoo! Not every concept that Irrational dreams up made into a game, but Ken Levine says that some of the stuff it didn't use may find its way into other 2K games.

NEWS - Red 5 (awesome name, cool Star Wars reference) has finally announced their first game, Firefall. The game is a free to play online team based shooter. Here's the full description from the release:
"Firefall paints a beautifully devastating vision of Earth, 200 years in the future. The promise of a new clean energy source, Crystite, leads to the disastrous arrival of the Melding, a hostile energy storm that engulfs most of our home planet. Earth’s surviving humans must band together in the eye of the Melding storm to save our species. Unfortunately, a new danger emerges as a bloodthirsty race known as The Chosen threatens humanity’s survival."
If you're wondering why this is important it's because Red 5 has some serious pedigree as they've got the team lead from World of Warcraft and the lead designer of Tribes on staff.

NEWS - While the live feed of 2K Game's press conference at PAX was a total failure, they just did announce the return of Duke Nukem Forever. Gearbox is picking up the pieces and looking to finish the game for a release by next year.
The Wall Street Journal has a nice little post on the announcement and entire fiasco. The fact is Gearbox has been working to finish it since late 2009 so they've had a little bit of time to work on it. The game's playable at PAX so if you're out there, stand in the long line and you'll be able to do something that very few has done until today.
-Update- Since Gaming Nexus is based in Columbus, Ohio, I found this tidbit funny from an interview with Steve Gibson of Gearbox. The codename for the game was Buckeye.

Telltale Games has announced what it's calling "the Citizen Kane of poker games," and it might be right -- Poker Night at The Inventory sounds like the best thing ever.
The game will star Penny Arcade's Tycho, Max of Sam & Max, they Heavy from Team Fortress, and Homestar Runner's Strong Bad. They're going to -- get this -- play poker. The game features fully-voiced characters, and will used Telltale's dynamic dialogue system as the character trash talk each other, tell stories, and react to the game in progress.
Poker Night at The Inventory will be available on Steam this fall for both PC and Mac, and will cost $4.99.

It's an actual thing that is actually happening -- Snoop Dogg's music is coming to Rock Band next week.
Eight of of Mr. Calvin Broadus' hits will be coming to the game, available for download from the Rock Band Store. These versions were evidently produced specifically for Rock Band.
Tracks are $1.99/160 MS Points/200 Wii Points per track, or $13.49/1080 MS Points for the full "Snoop Dogg Pack 01." Here's what it gets confusing, so takes notes…
The individual tracks will be available for download on all platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii) next week as individual song downloads; you'll only be able to get it as a pack next week on the Xbox 360. Oh, and "That's Tha Homie" won't be available for download on the PS3 until September 14 in North America, and September 15 in Europe. On September 21 in North America and September 22 in Europe, the entire "Snoop Dogg Pack 01" will be available for download on the PlayStation 3.
Confused? Bottom line is that if you have an Xbox 360, you can get everything next week and in a nice package if you want. If you're on another platform, just fire up your console and see what's available, because keeping track of all of this is too much work. Fo' shizzle.

NEWS - Enslaved: Odyssey to the West has gone gold and will be in stores on October 5th. If you're wondering why you should care it's because the game is being developed by Ninja Theory (who did the excellent Heavenly Sword) and the game has shown very well (check out Tina's impressions if you don't believe me). Still don't believe me? Check out this trailer and let me know what you think in the comments.
