Where there is a trendy new affliction, there is an expert with the answer. Thus it is that Britain is now host to its very first "game addiction" clinic in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Broadway Lodge treats about four hundred patients every year for drug abuse, alcoholism and gambling problems, but has recently extended its reach to videogames, adopting the Minnesota Method Twelve-Step program to ween youngsters off those crazy videogames.
"... I would stick my neck out and say between five and ten per cent of parents or partners would say they know of someone addicted to an online game," says chief executive Brian Dudley. "However, you can't simply say to a 23-year-old male 'you should never use the Internet again'. It's just not practical. So we go through all the issues surrounding gaming use and ensure there are triggers through which an addict recognizes their usage has become a problem.
''Behavioural shifts include users becoming agressive, with chaotic lifestyles that result in irregular eating and sleeping patterns as well as social exclusion. I don't know anybody else who is treating such cases in this country. There's no helpline.''
If you live in Britain and can't stop playing Evony Online, then you can breathe a sigh of relief because help has finally arrived. Thank Christ.
[Thanks, Pew]

Duke Nukem will never die. His spirit dwells in our hearts and is a part of all the world’s creation. He’s like an atom, except cooler -- you know, the kind of atom that rips off other atoms’ heads and spits down their neck holes. On the flip side he’s now, essentially, a defunct videogame character. Well … perhaps not.
There’s a small chance the Duke could be resurrected via Xbox LIVE Arcade. Gamer Bytes has discovered a notable Nukem-related mention in the Linked In profile of a previous Interplay programmer and now software engineer at Microsoft, Rebecca Heineman. According to her profile, at one point, she’s worked on an XBLA version of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a side-scroller originally released in 2002.
And, well, that's it.
We’re not pumping our fists in celebration quite yet. It’s an interesting listing for sure, but there’s nothing else to go on here in terms of details. Plus, Duke Nukem projects have a terrible tendency to not rear their heads in consumable capacities. So, instead of being hopeful, we're waiting to hear that its been canned.

Add to myYahoo! These images from the upcoming King of Fighters movie aren't new new, but are new to us. And they show more than fighting — there's sexual tension, too!
The movie also has an official website (warning: music) and a Twitter account — which I'm currently following for shits and giggles.
The King of Fighters is directed by Gordon Chan, who helmed the Jet Li martial arts classic Fist of Legend. This KOF movie doesn't have Jet Li, but it does have Sean Faris (Pearl Harbor) as Kyo Kusanagi, Wii Yun Lee (Witchblade) as Iori Yagami, Ray Park (Darth Maul) as boss Rugal, Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard) as Mai, Françoise Yip (Rumble in the Bronx) as Chizuru and some other people we haven't really heard of.
It will apparently have some sort of sci-fi spin on the fighting series. Apparently.

Oh Namco Bandai, is there any type of DLC that you won't be ashamed to sell us? Tales of Vesperia is rocking the PS3 in Japan, and that means it's time for Namco to do what Namco does best -- try to sell lazy digital crap that only a moron could justify spending money on. Want to spend thirty bucks on fake clothes for RPG characters? Scamco has made it possible!
That's right, folks! Namco Bandai has unleashed nine downloadable character costumes on the Japanese PSN, costing ¥300 apiece. Add them all together, and you're expected to pay ¥2,700, or $29.75, for a handful of pretend clothes that probably cost all of two bucks to make.
You almost have to admire Namco's commitment to devaluing and whoring out every single game it publishes. Also, anybody who has bought this stuff is a dickhead.

I don't remember being assigned a Nerf N-Strike Elite review, but lo! A copy has been sent to my house for review purposes by the good folks over at EA Play Label.
Assuming word doesn't come down from on high that I should break this bad boy open and get down to business, I'll be tossing Neft N-Strike Elite to the Ümloud! onto the pile of swag I'm amassing for the December 9 event.
I do recall playing this game at PAX 2009 while I waited in line for an APB demo. The consoles for it happened to be set up close enough to the line for the PR rep to lean over and let us take turns shooting virtual Nerf darts at targets and robots. I was sort of "meh" about the whole thing (but totally grateful for something to do in line), until the guy told me that the Wii peripheral gun you plug your Wiimote into is actually a real Nerf gun you can use outdoors. On your brother. Like I would have done right then and there if he'd been around.
If you want the game for yourself and you're not going to Ümloud!, it's out now.
