FEARnet and Destructoid got together to bring you an awesome Halloween themed contest where we wanted to hear what you think is the best horror game of all time. We got a lot of submissions and it took some time narrowing down just six winners.

Congratulations to snoogans775 as he’s getting the 80GB PlayStation 3, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and a signed poster from the cast of Fear Clinic. You can watch his entry to the contest above. Congratulations also go out to the five runner-ups, manasteel88, mooseifer69, Capm Trevo, Scary Hair Studios and Vongore. Doom Classic Now on iPhone [Id Software]

In case you missed it, Doom Classic is now available in the App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The $7 game, designed by John Carmack, features customizable control schemes, 36 levels spread across four episodes, a bounty of weapons and multiplayer support.

Here's the full break-down of game features:
Play the legendary first person shooter, DOOM, with an iPhone or iPod Touch
Fight through 36 missions in four action-packed episodes: Knee-Deep in the Dead, Shores of Hell, Inferno and Thy Flesh Consumed
Experience DOOM multiplayer on your mobile device, including Deathmatch and Cooperative play for up to four players via wireless internet

Activision promotes ratings, educational
properties of games

While the overwhelming majority of Activision's marketing force is being put to use selling Modern Warfare 2, one component of the company is hard at work not selling it -- to kids. Activision is working with Dr. Cheryl Olson, co-director for the Center for Mental Health and Media at Massachusetts General Hospital (and co-author of Grand Theft Childhood), on a campaign to help parents understand ESRB ratings, called "Ratings are not a Game." The first video deals with the obvious topic of "How Can I Tell If A Game Is Appropriate For My Child And How Do I Set Play Limits."

In the second video, Olson discusses the skills and information learned from games, even those of the non-educational variety. Even if the video is sponsored content produced by Activision (and therefore isn't exactly unbiased), it's still novel to hear a reasonably positive message about games' effects on kids.
