Milla Jovovich confirms a new Resident Evil film
... sigh

Milla Jovovich confirms a new Resident Evil film ... sigh screenshot

Yep, that's right. Not content with producing three absolutely horrendous movies bearing the Resident Evil name, it seems as if Hollywood is getting ready for a fourth, as confirmed by series "star" Milla Jovovich. While speaking to a crowd of paparazzi filth, Jovovich confirmed that the crap movies will be getting a new sequel and that shooting begins soon.

"We're going to start shooting at the end of the year," confirms Jovovich in a video contained after the jump. When asked which one it was by a member of the paparazzi scum, Jovovich simply said, "Four."

Resident Evil: Afterlife was mentioned about three years ago but there thankfully hadn't been much talk of it since then. Reports say that Jovovich later confirmed that "four" was indeed Afterlife, and that the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on September 17, 2010, whether we like it or not.

I don't really mind, but every time a new Resident Evil film hits my local movie theater, the local area becomes contaminated for the next four years.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite gets its first free
DLC update

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite gets its first free DLC update screenshot

Monster Hunter is kind of big deal. Maybe not as big a deal in America as it is in Japan, but a big deal nonetheless.

Capcom is trying to make it a bigger deal to those of ya’ll who haven’t recognized, recently releasing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PlayStation Portable. Now, its supporting it with downloadable content for the game, releasing every Friday during the upcoming months.

The first bit of DLC is a brand new question, “Triumvirate of Sands.” This new mission throws three monsters at you in the desert -- Daimyo Hermitaur, Tigrex, and Plesioth. Hell, you don’t need to be able to pronounce their names to kill ‘em and then carve ‘em, do you?

The DLC is totally free -- just boot up your game, click on “Downloads,” and the rest is self-explanatory. We’d think. Unless you’re slow. Then we wouldn’t recommend dragging yourself out into the desert to fight monsters. It sounds dangerous.

Left 4 Dead 2 boycott didn't change Valve's plans

Left 4 Dead 2 boycott didn't change Valve's plans screenshot

One of the biggest complaints that people had when they decided to be all dramatic and boycott Left 4 Dead 2 was that the original game would not get all the support that Valve was apparently contractually obligated to produce. Valve soon proved that complaint wrong, but Doug Lombardi insists that the fresh content for the game was not influenced by the online furor.

"I think there was just some confusion," Lombardi said. "When you go to E3 and make a big splash on a new product you're trying to get the retailer's attention and the press attention. It's not really the venue for announcing DLC and whatnot. I think folks took our announcement as a sign that we were dropping Left 4 Dead 1 and that's just not the case.

"It really didn't change our plans at all. As I mentioned we had plans to keep releasing stuff. We put the Survival Pack out for free which I thought was pretty cool on 360 as well as PC -- it's sort of uncommon to be able to get new stuff out that way."

Of course, the boycotters themselves remain unsatisfied, but once you get on a high horse about something, it's really hard to come back down. I should know, since I keep writing these condescending posts, and I'll probably never stop.

Avatar Attack allows gamers to use their Xbox 360
avatars as game characters

Playbrains announce a new and very personal way to play with your friends over Xbox LIVE. For the first time in any Xbox LIVE Arcade game, gamers will be able to take full control of their custom Avatar as a playable, in-game character through ?Avatar Attack? mode in Madballs in?Babo:Invasion (MiBI) for Xbox LIVE Arcade on Xbox 360.

By selecting the ?Avatar Attack? mode from the multiplayer Skirmish menu in MiBI gamers will be given the option to use their custom Avatar as a fully-controllable in-game character. Once selected, the ?Decappuccino Machine,? in a very sanitary manner, will painlessly separate the Avatar?s head from its body where it will then be fitted and equipped with some heavy hitting and highly explosive artillery! And unlike the bright gooey mess that Madballs and other Babo spew when they take damage, each Avatar head is hand-filled by the loving and caring folks at Playbrains with only the finest confetti to ensure a pleasant and colorful display upon destruction.

?We wanted to give Xbox LIVE Arcade players an opportunity to really go ?head to head,? commented Scott Simpson, president of Playbrains. ?We feel that the Avatar Attack mode in MiBI will soon take its place in our world?s society as a critical tool for settling disputes ? leapfrogging wars, lawyers, reality show judges and other far more expensive methods that humans have used till now.?

About Madballs in...Babo:Invasion
A gameplay rich, feature laden "casually hardcore" action shooter, Madballs in...Babo:Invasion (MiBI) is that rarest of gaming commodities: a genuinely unique title. Featuring the recently re-released Madballs? characters, Oculus Orbus and Horn Head, from the popular 1980's toys best remembered for their outrageously bad looks and graphically colorful names, MiBI is an arena-based 3D shooter where players are able to design their own combat maps almost instantaneously by placing a combination of map tiles to create a never-before-seen map before gameplay starts. Truly, no two games are ever the same.

Offering players a satisfying and immersive experience in both single-player and multiplayer, Madballs in...Babo:Invasion has a plethora of features and game modes such as 4-player online co-op along with, never-before-seen in an Xbox LIVE Arcade title, being able to incorporate your Xbox LIVE Avatar into multiplayer combat via the 'Avatar Attack' mode. Yes, Xbox LIVE Arcade combat just got personal. And with up to 16-player multiplayer support, MiBI will be one of the few Xbox LIVE Arcade games to support more than 8 players at a time, and the only avatar-based game to support 16 players.ca-pub-5833246175841206

Holy Crap, These Queen's Blade Promo Images Are
Suggestive [Maximum Risky]

If Namco Bandai didn't have an issue with splattering milk on characters for simulation role-playing-game Queen's Blade Spiral Chaos, than these promotional cards should pose zero problems.

These promo cards are available at Japanese retailers like Sofmap and Gamers and features illustrations from famed artists. They also feature boobs. You know, boobs?

Queen's Blade is originally a Lost Worlds style "combat picture book game" and has been published in Japan for the last couple of years. Queen's Blade features only female characters, and its spin-off series Queen's Gate has showcased the likes of Iroha (Samurai Shodow), Mai Shiranui (The King of Fighters) and Dizzy (Guilty Gear).

Queen's Blade has also been spun off into an anime and the upcoming PSP game Queen's Blade Spiral Chaos, which will be released December 17 in Japan.

Undead Knights comic features zero zombies, two
boobs

Undead Knights comic features zero zombies, two boobs screenshot

You've got to love Tecmo. Not only does the publisher know how to play to its strengths, but it's also completely shameless.

The publisher sent out an email update today, covering two of its upcoming titles -- Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma for the PlayStation 3, and Undead Knights for the PlayStation Portable. In its update, there really isn't much info on Undead Knights; if you're looking for that, you can check out our preview for E3

What it does reveal is one of the game's characters, a princess-like blonde who's wearing an outfit that looks more like sheer negligee than a royal robe. Her breasts, as you would expect from Tecmo, are enormous and on display. While the word "zombie" is mentioned, that's pretty much where it ends. As you can tell, Tecmo knows who butters its bread -- people who like breasts and slaughtering their enemies with armies of the undead.

With that said, it should be noted that as a game, Undead Knights doesn't take itself too seriously. The over-the-top trailer they released at E3 featured lots of hacking and slashing, set to the tune of some of the most ridiculous metal you'll ever hear. And since I'm easily amused, this definitely puts Undead Knights on my radar. Mission accomplished, Tecmo.

Cliffy B blames tech for bald space marine
overload

Cliffy B blames tech for bald space marine overload screenshot

Have you ever wondered why this generation's games are full of bald space marines in brown and gray environments? Of course you haven't, but don't worry, Cliffy B explains it all -- a bit like Clarissa, except you never wanked over Maxim pics of Cliffy B when you were fourteen.

"The technology of this generation just happens to be very good at rendering metals and stones and dramatic lighting," Cliff notes, explaining why games like Gears of War are so gray. "The tech is good at showing off armor and it's not that good at doing hair ... that's why we have bald space marines."

So, it's the technological limitations, and not the lack of imagination from game developers, that is apparently to blame. Doesn't quite explain why the brightly colored and marine-free Viva Piñata games are the best looking titles this generation, but there ya go!
