Konami is teasing a new game where pressing up, up, down, down, left, right, left, and right might help.

The sweet-ass 1992 arcade game is now a thing for your iPhone, iPad and other iThings, thanks to Konami. X-Men Arcade is up on the iTunes App Store now.
What's cool is that this version still lets you get your four-player on with drop-in local Wi-Fi multiplayer support. Konami says that they've also given special attention to the touchscreen controls, and that you are free to place the buttons anywhere on the screen. The game supports Facebook Connect and Game Center, and there's even a rumor that the good ol' Konami code is supported.
X-Men Arcade is available in the App Store now for only $2.99.

A new game coming from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima will show off the new Fox Engine. This next-gen, multiplatform game engine was revealed in Konami's pre-E3 announcements today. Kojima says that this engine will be the future of Kojima Production games, and that it will let them move away from developing games made for a single platform. This new game, which may or may not have been shown in the presentation, will most likely not be a Metal Gear game. Don't cry.
The demonstration ran on an Xbox 360 dev kit. It featured a guy moving through a highly detailed jungle, where super-realistic leaves fall in the background. Also shown: A super shiny and muscular dog and horse. It's not much, but GameTrailers has a good look at what little there is.
Here's the important part: The next game from Kojima Productions will use this fancy new Fox Engine. We know this game will be multiplatform and will be created for a global audience.

QCF Design's award-winning Desktop Dungeons was a free, indie puzzle-rougelike thing I got madly (and secretly) addicted to, then bothered to tell none of you about. The original version is still available in all of its pixelated glory, and I urge you to try it. There's much news to discuss, however.
PC and Mac pre-orders are open for the new-and-improved Desktop Dungeons, which is quite the step up visually from its freeware brethren. QCF also states that getting on Steam is the plan, and more versions -- web, Android, and iPhone, to be exact -- are on the horizon.
This is going to be awesome, guys. Heck, it already is.
[Thanks, Knivy]

NEWS - We're a week away from hearing the final name *coughVita*cough* of the NGP, but Sony's going all out and showing some cool stuff on the hand held.
One of the games that should do well is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. This little video shows off some of Nathan Drake in action along with some of the features of the NGP. Touchscreen and motion controls compliment the traditional control scheme giving gamers a new experience when playing Uncharted.
Keep in mind, the hardware in the video is a dev unit so they aren't the final ones yet. We'll probably see those next week, but for now check out this look at Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

Sorry to waste your time making you read past the headline, but we don't know anything about this new Contra game. In fact, our 'source' is a blazing "C" shown in video form at Konami's pre-E3 event. The good ol' Contra "C." I found myself typing the Konami code into the air when I first saw it.
"They're Coming"
That's what it says right under the C logo. What the hell does that mean?
I hope this game is just a fancy new chapter in the franchise. No funny business, please. No first-person nonsense. No IRL Wii guns or cover systems.
