Skarlet joines Mortal Kombat

by: Sean Colleli
NEWS - Skarlet, Mortal Kombat's first DLC character, has joined the tournament. This hemoglobin-riffic femme fatale might be wearing the most revealing outfit in the game, but seriously, who wants to get all that red stuff on an elaborate costume? The dry-cleaning bill would be a nightmare.

June 25th is the first official 3DS StreetPass
day

by: Sean Colleli
NEWS - StreetPass, the 3DS's natural evolution of the wireless tag mode featured in some earlier DS games, works great in a densely populated metropolis like Tokyo. But what about in the wide open spaces of Texas, or the hilly hamlets of Ohio? Not so much. Nintendo is trying to push the social aspects of StreetPass by designating June 25th as the first official meet-up day for the 3DS.

They've launched an online platform called Meetup Everywhere that lets you organize meet n' greets for swapping 3DS data, and after the launch of the EShop (and hopefully some decent games, zing!) I expect fans will congregate more often. Can you imagine mixing this thing with flash mobs?

Hit the jump for the details.

Sonic Generations to nostalgia its way onto the
3DS

by: Sean Colleli
NEWS - While the Wii is missing out on Sonic Generations, the 3DS will be getting the (hopefully) franchise-rebooting hedgehog sequel this November. The 3DS will feature levels specifically tailored to the handheld's stereoscopic capabilities, many of them based on classic 16-bit zones from older Sonic games.

Considering the 3DS is graphically the equivalent of a souped-up Wii, we're probably getting to see what Sonic Generations would've looked and played like on the Wii anyway...minus the waggle, of course. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised, however, if a Project Cafe version of the game gets announced next Tuesday at Nintendo's E3 presser.

d-capitatrix Review (Mac, iPhone, iPad)

Gamezebo Rating: 90

Everyone has their turn-ons: Foreign accents, intelligence, a Swiss bank account. Or, of course, decapitated cyborgs. In d-capitatrix, a bevy of curvy robot vixens seductively ask for your help recovering their missing noggins. Hips will swing and heads will, literally, roll.

Will Mass Effect 3 use Kinect on Xbox 360

Will Mass Effect 3 use Kinect on Xbox 360? screenshot

The all-seeing eye of the internet happened to catch the above image of Mass Effect 3 box art for the Xbox 360 from Electronic Arts' online store. The image, which shows the Kinect Sensor compatibility bar found on all games with Microsoft's motion control system as a feature, was quickly removed from its page, though the original file is still on their servers as of the time of this writing.

We'll no doubt hear all about this at E3 next week, but I'm curious to know how you think Kinect could be implemented in Mass Effect. Will it just be a throwaway mini-game exercise or do you think BioWare is capable of bringing some deeper application of the tech?

Rumour: Mass Effect 3 Kinect-compatible? [NeoGAF]

New Destructoid Episode: War of the Colonial Vita
Marines

Can't see the video? Click here

Evening, 'toiders! Time for another episode of that pesky video game show you've all grown to hate but watch anyway on the off chance one of us accidentally farts on camera. I can't wait for that day.

In the meantime, I learned two things from today's episode: One, plaid is terribly unflattering on camera. And two, Max really hates the name Vita. I mean, I think it's dumb, too, but like every other name for a video game console in history, I think we'll get used to it.

Other notable news of the day includes the big reveal of Catwoman as a playable character in Batman: Arkham City, the announcement of a Spring 2012 release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines, and the untimely demise of certain Android emulators. Also, if you haven't read Max's preview for The War of the Worlds yet, go do it. (He paid me to tell you that.)

Herofy Preview (PC)

What was once a peaceful and prosperous kingdom is now a barren wasteland. The fertile fields were destroyed by the Evil Forces and everyone lives in fear. The brave knight, Bladarash, rode out to vanquish them but, alas, disappeared without a trace. In despair, the king sent out a message asking for one brave hero (or heroine, as the case may be) to finish what Bladarash had started and restore the kingdom to prosperity. You'll take up the challenge in Herofy, using your match-3 skills to overcome all obstacles.

Saints Row 3 gets a new, pointless trailer

by: Charles Husemann
NEWS - THQ has released a CG trailer for Saints Row: The Third that shows off a gun fight in a club, some jets, and not much else.  It kind of sets the mood for the game and shows off some hints of things to come but I honestly expected a bit more of the Saints Row  feel to the first trailer for the game as this doesn't really match my expectations for the game.  Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments.Click here to view the rest of the content.
