While it's great to see cops tackle the growing problem of sexual predation in an online world, misinformed finger pointing and jumping to suspect conclusions won't solve anything. Such is the case of Missouri cybercop Andy Anderson, who claims that he can't find a justifiable reason for an adult to be playing Animal Crossing, and those that do are most likely pedophiles.
"There is no reason an adult should have [Animal Crossing: City Folk]," he explains. According to reports, Anderson then went on to say that any adult playing such games are "likely doing it for the wrong reasons."
There's nothing wrong with looking into online gaming worlds as a potential grooming ground for sexual predators. That is to be encouraged. However, to basically imply that any Animal Crossing fans over the age of consent should be looked at as perverse is simply stunning. Don't get me wrong, I believe that those who love Animal Crossing have something wrong with them, but I'm not going to go so far as to suggest that they're all jerking off to Miley Cyrus.
Besides, everybody knows that Animal Crossing fans are furries anyway.
