E309: Final Fantasy XIII Shown on 360

PS3 fanboys said it would never happen, but last year at E3, it was revealed that Final Fantasy XIII would launch simultaneously on PS3 and Xbox 360.  A year later, Square Enix gave RPG fans an extra treat.  Final Fantasy XIII was played on stage.
We've seen trailers and video captures of the demo released in Japan alongside the Advent Children Blu-Ray, but these were all dwarfed today by the game being played on a giant screen.  And to add an extra bit of excitement, the crowd was shown a boss battle that had never been witnessed before.
Lightning, the main character, and her friend fought off a mid-sized mech with razor arms.  After showing off the independent active-time gauges, Lightning cast the summon spell, Odin.  Like FFVIII, among a few others, summons are more than a damage dealing animation - they actually join your party for a short time.
After the battle was over, the Square Enix spokespeople thanked the audience and revealed a Spring 2010 release date.  That is, of course, subject to change.
