Despite the death (final nail in the coffin might be more accurate) of Duke Nukem Forever and the ensuing legal a battle over the game when 3D Realms died it was not the end for our loud mouth braggart of a hero. That's according to 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller, who said Duke will make “a strong resurgence” soon enough.
“There are numerous other Duke games in various stages of development, several due out this year,” Miller said while speaking with Gamesauce, which just had its first printed issue. "We are definitely looking to bring Duke into casual gaming spaces, plus there are other major Duke games in production ... Almost all of these [projects] are unannounced."
Some of these games are the already promised cell phone Duke games and the trilogies coming to PSP and DS, but the rest is pretty much shrouded in mystery. It could be the rumored Xbox Live Arcade port of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project and then there is the mysterious "D-Day." Also, Miller says that Forever has not ceased development despite most of the dev team being fired. The streak lives on! I believe we're near 11 years of development now.
The real question is do you still want Duke around? I mean the guy was fun, but with the crap that went on with Forever and the fact that the original games have aged terribly I'm not feeling that excited by this news at all.
